OMG - the deals are flying around for the Guardalavaca area with Thomas Cook for Wednesday May 18th departure dates. Here are the prices for 2 weeks AI:
3 Star Allocated on Arrival £515
Grand Playa Turquesa £539
Sol Rio de Luna £545
Brisas £565
Playa Pesquero £595
Playa Costa Verde £609
These are a giveaway - but it's too late to book online. Now I know the Turquesa and the PCV are applying single supplements, but on this particular date the PP is not (well not when I was able to check before 1am when the site migrates for the night).
My problem is that I will be returning from Cayo Santa Maria on the Monday and to fly out to Holguin on the next day but one does seem rather stupid.
Please don't tell me to spend the three nights in Cuba as I don't have the time to explore that route before flying out this Sunday.
Surely Heather you must be able to find a deal during this period from Canada, these UK prices are soooo low.
-
The Canadian selloff sites just updated their prices a few minutes ago.
No great deals for Cuba but some terrific deals for Jamaica.
-
While I posted it under a different topic, I have to say, I think the deal of the year is at Breezes Jibacoa in mid June for $525 pp plus $150 taxes for a week, a total of $675.
CRAZY :p
-
that's a great deal for that resort, too bad we're going in May.
Jamaica deals are all gone, I missed them.
-
For anybody that can leave tomorrow.
Redtagvacations has a great deal to Holguin.
June 3
Playa Costa Verde
Holguin
$437 plus tax
one week all inclusive

heather, I saw that last night too. I almost pulled out the credit card and booked it :(

They sure do Wendy, they sure do. I know all about that - it costs me many trips to Cuba and probably will continue to do so.
:gn: :gn: Tour Operators

You would think they'd be happy to get anyone to book (at least from Canada) in the summer.

Glad we agree on something!!!!
With regard to you hauling me over the coals over on Debbies for me referring to your photos as a DAIRY instead of DIARY, I can well see why you refer to Kristen as the BIT!!!! She has been trained by the best in the business I can see that now!!!
:rof:
Couldn't say it over there but just had to have my say over here!! I think we need a new graemlin for 'The Bitch'!!!
All in good fun, Wendy!

Mr B, she has been trained by the master indeed :)
I have been handed a "license to bitch" I've been told I was "born to bitch"
all in good fun of course :)
-
mojitomiss_cuba:
I agree with you there we must have a 'bitch' graemlin, you could then use that as your trademark just as Bulldog does :s:
Why he uses that I've no idea unless he really enjoys sailing.
We would not have the same problem with you though, because some of us are aware of what a self proclaimed (new graemlin required!) you are!! :rof:
:w: BIT bringing champagne for Mum (somehope methinks!!)

Juet had a look at the prices for May 06 Thomas Cook are offering a £260 discount for online booking, 2 weeks in the Cayos from £1,358.00 for a *** hotel and £1,500 for a **** hotel for 2people if you have your own insurance. This is from Manchester it is nearly £30pp less from Gatwick. That is less than we paid this year why wait till the last minute.

May 2006 - that's a heck of a way off yet!!!
I hope to have had a minimum of four Cuban visits between now and then.
I'm quite willing to sit back and let you come up with the deals though.
Cuba, any destination - 4 star minimum - single traveller - £750 max - Oct to Apr - Gatwick or Manchester (preferably Gatwick).
Just send me a PM when you've found me a deal - Thanks from HWMBO!!!
-
Ok, I know you Brits like to plan your vacations well in advance.
We talked about a get together in Cuba for next year, so keep that in mind too.
Debmich is only available for Feb or March which is why we were looking at that time frame.
If you guys are already planning next years vacation maybe we should start organizing our Cuban rendevouz.
Any thoughts?

The February Holguin trip is always at the forefront of my planning.
Current prices for me are on the expensive side but here they are, all for two weeks:
Feb 8th - PCV - First Choice £1047.90
Feb 8th - PCV - Eclipse Direct £988.00
Feb 9th - PCV - Thomas Cook £1076.00
Feb 9th - PP - Thomas Cook £960.00
Eclipse are just the direct selling arm of First Choice, so for the identical holiday they are £59.90 cheaper than First Choice. When I did a search for 2 people with Eclipse for the PCV it works out at £806 each so they are charging a supplement of £182 for a single. Nothing available for the PP though from either of those two.
Thomas Cook are way too expensive for the PCV, because of the single supplement which they do show as £182. However the PP with Thomas Cook at £960 is the cheapest option.
I would prefer to fly with First Choice as, not only have they upgraded their aircraft, but they fly DIRECT, whereas Thomas Cook will be flying via Varadero as last year.
These prices are on the high side, but availability is there at the moment. I'm not really bothered what I have to pay at the end of the day - it will be worth it just to meet up with all you wonderful people - so long as I'm not the only one on the beach!!
-
I just saw in the paper some great deals in two weeks..under $500.00 for a 4 star..

The dreaded single supplement, afraid i have not had much experience of booking for one person,I suppose you have to wait until a few weeks before and get them to wavier the single supplement, unless it is peak time the hotels will not be full so there is no need for a suplement.
Has for planning ahead if I can get a price I am happy with I will book it early, last year it would have cost £140 pp more booking it late.
I normally book over the internet saves talking to T/A :wall: however in your case I would let them know I am ready to spend money if the deal is right(I normally end up talking to the manager), i have done this twice it took a while but they beat the internet price
-
Garin:
That's basically what I do. I find the deal on the internet and then shop around to see if anyone can beat it.
Generally speaking though it is only the tour operator who can waive the single supplement and they'll usually only consider doing that if the flight is nowhere near full as the date of departure draws nearer.

Heather I've been torturing myself these past days checking out these prices too
My god, I had to force myself not to pull out the visa and book again!!
June prices are bloody awesome!
I want to go back :(
-
Resist the urge you two ladies. The weather in Toronto must be OK now. Wait until the winter hits and then go.
Basically I could really go at any time but I wouldn't even consider going at the moment myself not at any price.
-
It's 30 degrees in Toronto tonight, as much as I would love to take advantage of these prices it just doesn't make sense.
Being filty stinking rich Canadians that we are, we can suffer it out in our pools and hot tubs. :D
-
heather, can this "poor distant relation" come visit?
Unfortunately I have neither pool nor hot tub :(
-
Of course you can come visit, just bring your own mojito mix. I'm not rich enough to keep you going in that stuff. :D

Now I'm not going to call my good Canadian friends that any more - that was yesterday's man.
However I did notice from the results of my poll that you Heather were the only person that has both a pool and a hot tub. Can we have a photo link to them please, so we can all sit at home and see how the other half live, por favor!!!
:hotub:
-
I quite enjoy being referred to as filthy stinking rich, I can dream if nothing else. :)

You see I'm right, you're after Wendy's 'Supreme Bitch' title.
-
I don't have a pool or hot tub either :( but I do have a lake less than 50 feet from my deck. :D
