Title: Cuban Voltage
Post by: FredTracie on May 01, 2005, 04:47:00 PM
Hi Guys
We just purchased our first digital camera. We are going to Cuba May 28th and have a question? Our camera battery charger can handle 50/60 HZ and 240v, but we require some kind of plug adapter to be able to plug into a Cuban receptacle?? We don't require a travel converter, but what kind of pointy things do we need???
 FYI..the camera is a sony cybershot 4.1 mp (p73)

Also what is the best image size to shoot basic idiot proof pics??

    HELP........Fred&Tracie

Hi Fred and Tracie,
if all you need is the plug adapter (not the transformer) then there are "travel kits" out there that I've seen that have all of the different types of plugs found around the world.  (Radio shack? --> memory's failing me)

as for the MP setting on the camera?  a couple of variables to consider...
the higher the MegaPixel setting, the fewer pictures you can store on the memory card in your camera, but the lower the MegaPixel setting, the less quality of information in the picture there is for later editing/manipulation.

I have a 3.1 MP digital camera, and I have it set to the 3MP setting, and on a 128Mb memory card, I'm getting about 104 pictures.  Setting it to 1MP I can get about 450 Pictures on a 128Mb Memory card.

I prefer the higher MP setting myself and the price of the memory cards isn't that bad to get an extra one.

 Hope that helps.

If you look at the battery charger it will likely have a non-polarized plug (both flat prongs are the same size).  Most of the new hotels will accomodate this type of plug.  I didn't need any type of adaptor with my camera charger at Grand Playa Turquesa in January.  The voltage was 220 but the plugs accepted different types of plugs.
