I would like to know a little bit about this resort.
To me it is very confusing, 3 or 4 sections all in one resort. Or was it 3 resorts and now it is one.
What are the names of the different sections, and how are they sold? Do I look for Club Amigo when I'm browsing?
We passed it in May while in Cuba, but even then we were confused. The sign outside said Club Amigo, but there was also another name as well which I can't remember.
I thought I would start my research early for November.
Anybody been?
-
Thanks for starting a new thread on this Heather because it has always puzzled me too. Here is what I wrote on another thread which I'm posting here just in case our resident Club Amigo experts Fred and Tracie miss it:
I would really like you to explain to me the four resorts involved here. Do they all come under the name of Club Amigo? Also what is Guardalavaca village, is that one of the 4 resorts?
As far as I can see you have the hotel which is the Atlantico Hotel, then Club Amigo, so how is Club Amigo divided up (into three resorts is it not?).
I assume that you all eat in the same restaurants and share all the facilities, so it's just the actual naming of the resorts and where they actually are I've never been too sure of, so I hope that you can explain it to me as simply as possible.
-
I'm assuming that it will be like one big resort spread out.
I'm assuming that their will be one reception area for all the sections? I could be wrong here.
Mr B, you could do one week here with all of us one weeker Canuks, and then move over to the Playa Pesquero for your second week. Now if you could get Avid and Wossa to join you.....WOW !!
-
Heather:
That would be a good idea but as neither of the two big players over here book Club Amigo it might prove difficult to do to combine it with the PP.
I have been given a contact at The Holiday Place (a UK travel agent) by someone on avid's board who stays at Club Amigo so I'll be contacting him and he may be able to sort something out for me. They use Cubana, but generally bolt on 2 or 3 days in Havana which I would like to do anyway.
I haven't contacted Avid or Wossa for a while so I've no idea of their plans, but it would be great if they could join us I agree.
-
What other resorts are in the area that are offered to you?
-
Can you believe this. I went on The Holiday Place website about 30 minutes ago and filled in a holiday request form and no sooner than I had sent it off my phone rings and believe it or believe it not it was the guy whose name I had been given as a contact ringing me back - actually within a minute of me hitting 'send'.
I must say I was most impressed - highly efficient.
Standby Heather and F&T - I'll be posting details in a few minutes. Haven't booked anything yet, but see what you think.
-
Here goes: Flights are with Cubana from London Gatwick and do not incude the price of the tourist card so £15 needs to be added on. Luggage allowance 30 kilos although only 20 on the internal flight.
Sat Nov 13th - 13 nights Club Amigo + 3 nights Tryp Habana Libre £959
Wed Nov 9th - 10 nights Club Amigo (probably enough)+ Comodoro Bungalows £799
The Comodoro bungalows are about 15 mins out of central Havana but a free shuttle runs 5 times a day. The Libre is available on this last deal for a £61 supplement and is apparently more in the centre of old Havana.
The guy is there until 8pm tonight (3pm your time) - any views anyone?
A
-
Sounds good Mr B
will you be at Club Amigo first and then on to Havana? I wouldn't want to book for the 12th only to find that you're in Havana and we miss you.
I guess we'll have to wait for F & T to decide. We can get Club Amigo right now for $853 for one week.
What other options do you have in case they change their mind about resorts?
Heather
-
flopnfly;
Yes Club Amigo first (Cubana flight direct to Holguin) followed by internal Cubana flight at 1830 to Havana, then fly direct back home from Havana.
However I have just noticed that from July Virgin Atlantic are flying direct to Havana twice a week. That man Richard Branson sure knows what he is doing.
I have checked on their website and for 50,000 Virgin miles I could fly there for FREE. At the moment I have 44,270 points (or miles) and I use the Virgin Credit Card all the time to get me miles, so it may pay me to sit back and wait for a free ride to Havana and then I could be staying at a Casa. I'm sure that someone who posts on here could recommend one or two :rof: :rof:
Pity that since 911 Virgin pulled out of Toronto as I could have flown there for nothing as I can to all North American destinations on selected dates.

Heather: This is part of a response I posted on another thread in answer to a question from Huskypup:
Thomas Cook are showing NO availability at all for the Guardalavaca area for any time in November either for one or two persons.
First Choice (through Eclipse) offer the PCV (next door to you) at £826 for a single (£700 each if there are two of you - very good price indeed)on 2nd November and on 16th Nov it is priced at £853 single.
Now my preferred option would be to pay the extra and stay at the PCV, because I could slip next door (hopefully, by use of my saved wristband which has turned white!!) and visit my friends there.
The guy from the Holiday Place had promised me an upgraded room at Amigo to a Tropical room or something like that, but it won't be one of the villa rooms.
Those are my options, anyway. I don't mind staying at Club Amigo if all you guys are golng to be there at the same time, but I don't think I want to be there if you're not.
Apparently we do have the use of some of the facilities at Brisas next door, obviously not able to eat there, but at least I would be able to relive a very pleasant memories back there.
-
Bellagio
The Tropical section is in the Atlantico hotel closest to the beach. Maybe it would be better if we chose the date Nov. 12/13 arrival in Holguin and everyone chose what ever hotel is to their liking and we set up an afternoon at the beach, maybe rent a van and driver and go to Holguin and then dinner or lunch another day, etc. Would hate for something to happen and some not be able to go?? Right now we are planning to be in Guardalavaca Nov. 11/12/13 arriving for 1 week, and will be booking last minute! Bellagio the PCV sounds like a good deal as you are staying for 2 weeks. Just some thoughts!! Not sure Amigo would be OK for 2 weeks????Gotta get back to work!!!
Cheers.......F&T
What about the Luna Mares or Brisas?
-
I just booked my vacation time at work, and it has been approved.
Nov 14 -18 :ham:
I also booked September 16th off, so I will be able to pick you up at the airport Mr B.
Heather
-
F&T and Heather:
Suddenly Thomas Cook's website shows availability for the Guardalavaca area and the Playa Pesquero beach (PCV, PP, Blau and the Turquesa).
Here is the latest picture:
The only other hotel that First Choice offer on Nov. 16th is the Sol priced at £919 and £923
Thomas Cook offer the following (inc single supplement) Nov 10th departure for two weeks;
Brisas £1045
Sol £1033
PCV 936
Turquesa £1000
PP - no quote (as usual) for singles but works out at £869 per person if two are travelling.
To start with I would prefer to fly First Choice as their flights are direct and also they have upgraded their aircraft.
The prices Thomas Cook are quoting for Brisas and the Sol are a joke as these two hotels are not as good as the ones on Pesquero beach, IMHO.
Therefore the price of £853 for the PCV on 16th November with Thomas Cook is the best bet, apart from the Club Amigo/Havana 13 night trip at £799.
I'll be phoning my TA after 6pm to see what she can come up with.
Heather it's over to you.

Heather I see you've booked your dates off. I might have to consider this option also then:
PCV £826 with First Choice on Nov 2nd.
Neither this nor the other holiday a fortnight later is ideal though to coincide with your dates. Don't know why there aren't any Nov 9th dates showing with First Choice.
The TC flights link up much better with your dates but I will have to see what my TA comes up with when I ring her shortly.

Mr B,
My dates are flexible, I can change them but I just wanted to get in and save that time frame before somebody else.
I'll have to check but I think right now we only have a choice of Fri, Sat or Sun flights. that might change closer to the time.

Have spoken to my TA who informs me that Hayes and Jarvis are doing some good deals to Brisas at the moment.
Brisas would be an ideal location as it is right next door to Club Amigo and I believe you can use their facilities also. Unfortunately she tells me that Hayes and Jarvis close their system down at 6pm so she will look tomorrow for me and then call.

Thank you bellagio. Whatever would you do without your secretary while on vacation? I hope this trip for 5 millybesses is one of the perks of the job.
:)
-
Well F & T are going to wait until last minute to book, but I believe that they are still going to Club Amigo.
I have no preference about resorts, I just want a nice beach to sit on and a bed to sleep in. I'm easy to please.
Heather

I never take my secretary away on vacation with me (actually I've never had one before) but five of them, who do you think I am Donald Trump??

You would have to be Richard Branson, at least he's English. Trump is one of those dam Yanks. :D
-
Bellagio
Have you checked the Thomson website, they are still showing flights to Holguin area on the 3rd Nov, which is the day that we travel, not sure on prices though.
-
Huskypup:
Sorry to disappoint you I gave up on that Thomson website last year. They just do not want to know singles.
I've just tried it again, especially for you, and this is what I get:
'Sorry, we couldn't find any holidays to match your requirements - please try searching again'
Put in for 2 Adults and there are loads of holidays available.
-
Bellagio
You beat me to it, just about to say that, realised I hadn't changed the occupants. Sorry, wait to hear what your TA says in the morning.
-
Huskypup:
That is actually one of the major disadvantages of being single as far as I'm concerned.
It really upsets me to see holidays priced so ridiculously low at times for two people, but as soon as you check the price out for a single traveller the holiday either disappears from view (as is the case of Thomas Cook and the PP) or they stick a ridiculously high supplement on it.
At least with Thomas Cook they do reveal what the supplement is, but with First Choice they just give you a total price with no separate breakdown of fuel charges or single supplements.
-

Well I might have to think about resigning. I was certainly under the impression that anything Cuba-related was my responsibility. :ham:

True it is, but I will NOT allow you to resign.
However when I'm in Cuba, and therefore not posting, I have no need for a secretary, so you can have the time off, sorta like (I love those words!!) unpaid leave.
-
Hi Guy's
Bellagio and Heather
The time frame is great, except for Bellagio! Are there no flights coming into Holguin around the 12th of Nov.? Anyway the price for the PCV sounds OK and we understand that you have to book much earlier than we do, so it seems obvious to us that you should book what you want and then we will work with you! We have never done a tour of Holguin, but think it would be OK to do with a group like we are getting together????? We are hoping the boy's (Scott & Sean) will join us as hopefully Wendy will include Kristen? Anyway the Barbie is ready for September, so don't worry Heather we'll cook for you! You're invited to the Barbie, and John as well!!!!
Cheers.....F&T
-
Thanks F & T we'd be delighted to attend. :D
Are you still thinking of Club Amigo or are you just going to grab a last minute deal no matter which resort?
-
Hi Flopnfly
Your Welcome, anytime. Being 5 months away it is difficult to totally commit to specifics. We have every intention of being in Guardalavaca on the 12/13 November. Club Amigo is likely the hotel, but who knows which hotel? Maybe CK will be there with all his friends in which case we would likely choose another hotel! ;)
Cheers.....F&T :1:
Price is a big consideration!
-
My TA hasn't rung back with any info yet about Brisas.
I know she is off to the Daiquiri herself sometime this week and she was off to the bank to get Travellers Cheques this morning, so she did warn me it might be later on before she called.
Switching back to BBQ night - have we a date in mind?
-
Originally posted by FredTracie:

Well if CK was there at least we wouldn't go hungry. :rof:
-
We need to get your intinerary figured out? But for you Bellagio we will fire the Barbie anytime!
Off to work.....F&T ...When are you coming to Ont, and for how long?... You may need a month with your social calender? :) :)
-
Morning F&T - Heck hadn't thought about CK. Now he doesn't post on Debbies I've completely lost track of his proposed Cuban visits.
I don't think he stays in the 'popular' resorts though, but Guardalavaca is one of his favourite hunting grounds.
Caveat Emptor :rof:
-
My TA never did ring back about Brisas and as she's off to the Daiquiri until July 1st I think I can write her off for the time being.
I checked Hayes and Jarvis website myself, as that is who she said had the good deals on Brisas, but prices started from £911 but the site didn't allow you to choose flights so it wasn't much use and that price is higher than the PCV anyway.
Now I know she'll not be ringing I'll try elsewhere tomorrow.
-
Hi There,
We stayed at Club Amigo Guardalava Village in Feb 2005. Loved it. My review is posted at Debbies review site and just about covers everything - much too long!! Anyway, there are four areas in this complex as follows:
Club Amigo Atlantico - Hotel
Club Amigo Bungalows - Bungalows
Club Amigo Guardalavaca Village - Villas
And one more which I am not sure what they call but it is the oldest part of the complex. the Guadalavaca Village is the newest section and is very close to Las Brisas although you cannot share facilities with Las Brisas. I think you may be able to get a pass to the Las Brisas buffet once per week. Anyway, for a three star we loved it but it was our first time away anywhere so we have nothing to compare it to but would go back again in a flash!
Good luck and have fun in November!!!!
Susan :)
-
rupietoot:
Thanks for that, I've also read your excellent review over at Debbies (Susan & Buck I presume). Your recommendations, along with Fred and Tracies, have certainly eased my concerns about this resort, but I'm still not sure whether or not I'd want to be in the Hotel section. I've never had any reservations about staying in the Villas.
To be fair I suppose I should go off and read as many reviews as possible to try to get an overall opinion but with a 4 in 1 type of resort it's not that easy particularly when you are probably unsure of which section you are staying in until you actually arrive there, that's my major concern with this hotel complex
When I have a few minutes and go back and read the reviews of the Atlantico Hotel, because I've a sneaking suspicion that's where I would finish up.
-
Bellagio
If you do end up at Club Amigo Atlantico (Tropical section)It's not the end of the world, honest....Some of the rooms are small.Tracie and I had one.but the location is fantastic..just a few steps to the beach.. the souvenir market is adjacent.. the 24hour bar is a 2 min. walk. The A/C worked well.. The elevators worked and the bartenders were great.. the buffet was on the 2nd floor.. Totally convenient! IMHO!!! The bars on the beach were fantastic...Just don't end up in the Guardalavaca section.. (the original hotel).. The only drawback might be no balconies???
As Always.....F&T
If you are flying on points and doing 3/4 days in Havana.. Don't be afraid..but if you are spending 2 full weeks there then probably look at options??...20weeks!!!!
-
F&T:
I've decided to play the waiting game myself, so I probably will be doing the Club Amigo/Havana trip in the end.
The First Choice flight dates of Nov 2nd and 16th to the PCV are not ideal to fit in with you, whereas the Nov 9th flight for the Club Amigo for 10 days seems more convenient, flying onto Havana at 1830 on 19th November fot three nights.
The November 12th date, which would be more suitable, gives me 13 nights at Club Amigo and 3 nights in Havana, but I'm not sure if I can do a 10 day Amigo + 3 day Havana on this booking.
Early days still yet, but the options are there.
-
Bellagio
Keep us updated!!
Cheers.....F&T
-
F&T:
On checking their website I find this:
13 nights packages comprises of:
11 nights on the beach and 2 nights in Havana -Saturday flights
10 nights on the beach and 3 nights in Havana - Wednesday flights
Now 2 nights in Havana is no good, because it's bedtime by the time you arrive at your hotel, so I need to take the 3 night option and that only operates on Wednesday. Therefore the 9th and 16th are the dates under consideration, so I would have thought that the 9th is the more suitable, would you not agree?
-
Bellagio
Absolutely!!!

You are right - The Pressure - Well the trip is 3 months away still. Steve should be confirming the Sept 17th date with Alfredo over the weekend and then I can get the flights booked.
I've appointed Millybess as trip co-ordinator but she has one of these girls weekends this coming weekend so I've allowed her some time off.
There just seems so much to arrange - the stress and pressure of it all is really getting to me :rof: Hopefully things will be clearer by this time next week.
-
Mr B all you have to worry about is booking your flight.
Leave the rest of your itinerary up to your tour managers.
Ontario isn't going to know what hit them. If they think that the Rolling Stones coming to town was big, wait until the Bellagio Babes Tour hits town. !!!

Whilst in St. Albans I spent time visiting the Thomas Cook and First Choice travel agencies in the City Centre.
My first visit was to Thomas Cook: Price for the PCV on Nov 10th departure £1021. Price for this same holiday booking online on their website £941 (a saving of £80).
First Choice were just as bad. The girl admitted they could not expect to get close to Eclipse prices (their own direct selling arm). Her prices for the PCV were £160 more expensive than booking online. How do these travel agencies stay in business?
By picking up their brochure though I did discover that First Choice are only flying every second week to Holguin during the winter from both Manchester and Gatwick (alternating it with Varadero) so if I were to fly with them it would have to be a Nov 2nd or Nov 16th departure from Gatwick or a November 4th departure from Manchester. Current prices are £855 and this is a direct non stop flight.
Looks like the Manchester flight departing on Friday 4th could fit in well with you guys because I would be then flying home on November 18th about 1 day before you, assuming you fly Saturday to Saturday. Other than that I take the Thomas Cook flight via Varadero on Nov 10th and pay £941 as opposed to £855 for the First Choice flight out of Manchester.
-
PCV is that the one that is next door to PP.
-
Correct. There are three hotels in a line along the Pesquero beach - the Blau Costa Verde (formerly the Maritim Costa Verde, the PCV (Playa Costa Verde) then the PP.
-
Here is the latest update on prices for me:
Thomas Cook - Nov 10th - 24th PCV £896 (that's down £45)
First Choice (ex Manchester) - Nov 4th - 18th PCV £840 (up £10 since yesterday)
The Holiday Place £899 flying Cubana on a 747 - 300 series on Nov 9th - 10 nights at the PCV then flying on to Havana on Sat Nov 19th for 3 nights B&B at The Comodoro - This price includes the tourist card and all transfers including the internal Sat flight to Havana which leaves Holguin at 1830. (only 13 nights in total).
All three of these options would tie in quite nicely with you guys who would be flying out of YYZ on Sat Nov. 12th.
Interesting to note that the Thomas Cook price has actually dropped!!!
-
Hi Bellagio
The Holguin/Havana combo sounds interesting! Evan though it's only 13 nights, is that a good price?
F&T

F&T:
Don't really know. It's not that cheap I don't think. Some friends of mine did Amigo and Havana in February for around £650.
I don't think that price will come down as it is flying scheduled on a Cubana 747 jumbo. As you say it is only 13 nights and also it is £59 dearer than 14 nights at the PCV with First Choice.
I'll keep monitoring prices though. I now have three options open to me, but I do feel that I will have to book it before I leave for Canada, as I don't fancy leaving it until late October to book it.
-
Looking forward to the get together in Guardalavaca, in November, Anybody else want to come and play???
Cheers..........F&T
-
Just checked the websites this morning and whilst First Choice are unchanged I find that Thomas Cook - Nov 10th - 24th PCV £946 (that's up by £50).
What they have done is cut their online booking discount from £220 to £170 - so at the moment that option is out. Still won't allow me to price the PP for a single though.
-
Today's prices find Thomas Cook unchanged at £946 whilst the First Choice Manchester flight has increased from £840 to £905.
We are still 5 months away and the prices are rising already!!!
-
Bellagio, looks like you are being smuggled in my suitcase then, Ive just bought nw ultra lightweight ones now, so hiding you in it shouldn't be a problem.
-
Fred and Tracie,
Any thoughts on this? Do you think it's worth waiting last minute this year?
Heather
-
Hi Heather
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Have Patience.......F&T
-
Well ... I may be in !!!
With Mother in tow.
Maybe we'll triple a room with sunluvr ?
Think with the new surcharges its still worth waiting for last minute? I know Club Amigo is usually always one of the resorts that are last minute, just curious.
-
Stop playing with me like that....
-
Shine,
I really hope you can join us. Fred and Tracie tell me to hang on for a last minute deal. I know they got a great deal last year, so here's hoping we can do the same this year.
The prices haven't started moving yet, probably not until near the end of August.
Keep watching.
-
Hi Guy's
We have jumped on board once because of fuel surcharges, never again! Sunluver you know what we mean, Santa Lucia!!! (still want to go to Santa Lucia)....Anyway we will wait until October to even consider a booking! Yes there will be a fuel surcharge and we don't have a problem with it because, we will bet a catered BBQ'd dinner at our house that we will get to Club Amigo for 1 week, Nov. 12/13 departure for about $500 plus taxes!!!or under $1400 all in for 2 people!!! Oh by the way Boy wonder #2 is coming, hopefully boy wonder #1 will also join us!!
Cheers...........F&T

Well I'd be interested if it's a killer deal, so I'm all for playing the waiting game...Santa Lucia/Melia Cayo Santa Maria certainly paid off! I've penciled the week of November 14-18 on my calendar to ensure no work commitments arise that week. We'll see! Mr. Sunluvr unfortunately would be stuck home alone yet again, poor baby :(
-
Bellagio
No, both the boys have been to Cuba, as a matter of fact they are Havana vets and have enjoyed sharing time with our Cuban friends!!and yes boy wonder #2 has written about his experiences for school! Sunluver .... we need Mr. Sunluver to join us in Holguin, I'm sure you can't get away with "2" trips on your own in the same year?
Cheers........F&T
-
Ok F&T we'll sit behind you and play the waiting game. Kind of like playing the stock market, we'll just wait for you to tell us to BUY NOW!!!
I hope both boys can make it, we'll probably be bringing Bonnie with us too, she doesn't let us get away without her too often.
It's going to be a great get together, and a great week!!

Bitch ;)
(can I say that here?!?!?!)
Well, like I was telling sunluvr, the only thing I don't know about it the date. Last year, racing season started November 19th. Schedule comes out on August 1st. If this is the case, then no, I can't go ... I can't miss even one weekend of racing. BUT, if the season doesn't start until later in December, then even hubby said I should take my mom and go ... SO THERE :p :p
-
shine, we're kind of in the same boat... I can't commit to any dates in the fall until I get the BIT's school schedule in Sept.
I obviously cannot go away the week before or week of midterms and unfortunately the website for the school board doesn't give me that information only the PA days and christmas/march breaks :)
-
I have a 'ring' around Sat Nov 12th as the date most likely for you guys to be flying out for the week.
Prices are holding here around the £900 mark for two weeks at the PCV for this period. Not low enough yet to tempt me into booking.
I'm holding off for the moment. Just wonder who will be FIRST to take the plunge?
:ham: :ham:
-
Had to nip out to the shops, so thought I would call in to my local Thomas Cook to get an update on their price for the Nov 10th departure to the PCV.
Happened to catch the Manageress so I thought I might get some sort of reasonable price from her.
Written quote in front of me £1027.
Online price from their website as soon as I returned home £921 (down from £931 when I checked a couple of days ago).
A whopping £106 difference. Why do I even bother wasting my time trying to give these people a chance?
Incidentally Eclipse have eased back their First Choice Manchester departure price for Nov 4th to £851 - that is down from £880 - but still above the £826 is was a month or so back.
However prices are moving in the right direction at the moment. The single supplement for the PCV is just £182 for the two weeks, so I think that is quite reasonable. Looks like First Choice is a better bet as not only is it a direct flight but the aircraft seating has been upgraded.

WOW....The B---- word! And we are not even in Guardalavaca YET!!!Sunluvr, not sure we can do a dynamo deal like Santa Maria again....But you never KNOW!!!! Anyway you must feel comfortable with your booking , To book now or last minute?....You must decide for your self!("To be or not to be, that is the Question!)
Cheers..........F&T
-
Hi F&T...I bet if we hold out till last minute we can get a Santa Maria deal! I'm perfectly content to wait and see what happens :)
-
Hi Sunluvr
Not sure if that price will happen, but it certainly won't be $852 plus tax?????

Hey guys...can you just confirm you're still looking at the Amigo?? I've heard several possibilities, I don't know which end is up!
Thanks!
-
I'm open to anything in that area, Club Amigo, PP, or PCV.
Prices should start to shift in a couple of weeks.
-
Well this awful wet weather over here has once again turned my attention to Cuba and to the Holguin area proposed gathering in November.
Thomas Cook's website now longer will give me a price for a single to the PCV for their November 10th departure (it will quote for two people still) which indicates to me that the resort is selling quite well. That option now appears closed.
I have spoken to several TA's on the phone today and none of them can match the Eclipse price of £851 for the Manchester Nov 4th departure for 2 weeks at the PCV. In fact two people have told me straight to go ahead and book it.
I can still book the Cubana 747 flight on Wednesday 9th November which gives me 10 nights at the PCV and then flying on to Havana on Sat 19th Nov for 3 nights at The Comodoro (bed and breakfast). That is currently priced at £899 (including the tourist card). I do therefore have options.
I'm really not sure which option to take. Any movement either way in the Eclipse price though would definitely settle it.
I take it there is no movement in Canadian prices yet, so no one over there is considering booking just yet?

Hi Bellagio
Nothing on this side of the pond has moved yet for the Nov. 12/13 departures. But that's normal as we will have selloffs and promo's as Sept./Oct. roll around. So don't worry about us as we will get there, it is your arrangements that you need to be concerned about! That 10 days in Holguin followed by 3 days in Havana sounds really interesting?
Cheers.......F&T

Bellagio
Either that or my suitcase option still stands.

With all the uncertainity I am showing with regard to this booking that may be the only option left open to me.
I'm going to hang on until next week as by then the holiday will have moved into the 'late deals' category as it will only be 12 weeks away and maybe, just maybe, the price may ease back somewhat. I doubt it very much though.
-
Well the good news is, Mom got all her passport stuff figured out today ... I'd so like to go away again ... still looking Costa Rica for October (5th anniversary) but November is doable I think, with Mom not DH though ... will have to wait for a last minute package though.
I can't believe it ! That would be 5 trips this year if all pans out !!!
-
Shine
Does that mean you will be joining us all in the Holguin/Guardalavacca area in Nov then?
-
That was the point :p
Would be Mom's first trek to Cuba (she used to Cruise every year) ... she's not going to Florida for the winter this year, and DH suggested I take her away before Christmas sometime.
-
Sure would be great Shine if you and your Mom could meet up with us all in November.
Wonder who will be the first to actually book? So far there is a lot of talk but no action. :rof: :rof:
If only I could see a downward trend in prices I would be handing over my plastic immediately. I really think I need to get this booked before I leave for Canada in 38 days time.
-
Well, seeing as how we only booked this trip one week in advance, I don't think we'll be the first to book the November trip.
I'm waiting for Fred&Tracie to book and then I'll follow.
-
Hi Heather
Isn't that a song "follow the leader..leader...leader..follow the leader...." Oh the pressure??? :1:
Cheers..........F&T "Good things come to those that wait"

We have to get Bonnie's friend organized as well. She doesn't have a passport, which is why we are going to the DR next week instead of Cuba.
Depending on their schedules, and whether or not she gets a passport they will be coming along with us.
-
So many Vacations so little time :D
-
The kids (young adults) will have a ....BLAST!!! Get that passport app. gone!!!
Cheers.......F&T
-
Hopefully this is the kind of price we can look forward to for November.
Your Travel Tickets (http://www.yourtraveltickets.com//)

WOW, lets hope so !!!
Makes me want to go now at that price, as others said in another thread, you can't do Ontario for a few days for that price !!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
May the Travel Gods Smile upon us!!!!
The LastMinute prices are fantastic for this weekend, I suspect something ...a little bit higher than that for November 12/13 departure?????? Remember "Good things come to those that wait" But not that much more??? Pastor Ash..... for your departure ..Oct. 15th?.... WAIT.... You will be Rewarded!!!!!
:1: F&T

Yes I can see it's likely to be fine for you Canucks to wait but not so over here I think.
Whilst I was out today I called into two different Travel Agents to price up the November trip.
Usual waste of time - no one can compete with the internet. I'm waiting a little longer before booking as the date should shortly come into that covered by 'last minute deals'.
-
bellagio, it might be cheaper for you to make this trip through Toronto. You could probably get a cheap flight to Toronto in November.
That way, you could book at the same time as everyone else.
-
Millybess:
I agree - that is always an option and one I will have to consider.
First Choice prices have increased by £5 this morning (probably an additional fuel surcharge).
I cannot bring myself to booking that holiday now - £881 compared to £826 I could, and should, have booked it at.
When I get a minute (cricket has just started) I'll start checking air fares to Toronto for early November. I will still want my two weeks in Cuba though, not just the one that everyone else looks like taking.
It may appear quite simple to do but in theory but could prove more difficult in practice due to availability of the Cuban holiday and the price and availabilty of outward and return flights to Toronto. Also there is likely to be a single supplement to contend with, but it is well worth investigation.
-
Unfortunetly we will not see the 3's in November Heather. There are demons out there now trying to lure us south... I'm wearing garlic around my neck everyday.
