Title: Playa Alameda and Iberostar Tainos

Has anybody stayed at either of these hotels.  They seem to be getting fairly good reviews at the moment.
 
 Also the Iberostar Varadero gets excellent reviews but is a little pricey at the moment.

Haven't stayed at Tainos but stayed next door at Beaches and met a couple that were staying at Tainos.  They loved it.  It's an older resort than the Iberostar but still nice.  The beach in front of the Tainos is fantastic with lots of chairs and shade if that's important to you.  
 
 Tainos should be pricing a bit cheaper than Iberostar.

We stayed at the Iberostar Tainos January 2005.  We were very happy with the staff and the beach was awesome.  The rooms are a little tired but very clean. We stayed in one of the bungalows there.  I was very happy with the food.  My DH and I never got sick once and that was a first for me on a vacation.

No, not that I can remember.  We spent all our days at the beach.
