Title: Water
Post by: bellagio on November 11, 2006, 09:09:00 PM
As most of you may know the water supply is only turned on in some areas once or twice a month and when someone's well runs dry they have to purchase water for 2 CUC's to fill their well.

These wells are inspected regularly by the authorities to make sure they are free from disease.

Here are some photos showing water being delivered by tanker to fill up a well in someone's backyard.

This IS the real Cuba - far removed from resort life!!!

Welcome back from your trip Ken. Good pictures of a household cistern but not limited to Cuba, these are used in most houses in Central and South America as well as some areas of the US. I lived with similar in about five different homes over 10 years in Mexico but ours were almost always on the roof and also supplied sufficient pressure for the house water system and would hold enough for about a weeks use in case of power outage etc.
