 This question was posed on another board and I was wondering if anyone here had any input.
Are you allowed to use the facilities at the other resorts in the Melia Chain? For example when we stayed at the Paradisus we could use the facilities and eat at the Sol next door. Does this hold true in the Varadero region? For example, if I am staying at the Melia LA can I get a bracelet and eat at the Melia Varadero next door or at the Sol Palmeras, etc?

I think you can.
When we were at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria last month we ate at the Sol buffett for dinner for a change, could use their disco, and pool.

I know they play the same music at there Resorts :D

When I was there in May 2005 I had to get permission (and a card) to dine at the Sol buffet.
One waitress refused to serve me at lunchtime at the Snack bar Los Flamencos at the Sol because I was wearing the Melia wristband. I showed her the card and it was ok. That card was actually only giving me permission to eat in the buffet on one particular night!!!
Other people were eating over there at the Sol seemingly with no problem but the official ruling was (and maybe still is) that you could use all the facilites of the Sol but NOT eat there.
If anybody was going to get questioned it would HAVE to be me, that's why I played it according to the rules and asked permission - which took three days to obtain!!!

Yes, as far as I knew you could not eat at the Sol just use the disco.
Someone told us they ate there the night before and the food was better because Sol was opened much longer the cooks had more experience, so we gave it a try and had no problem. Maybe the rules have changed, or because it was such low season or they did not look at our wrist bands.
