We are off to Cuba in May, it's our first time and we're not sure where to go. We've read reviews and we're open to suggestions.
I think we've pretty much decided that a day trip to Havanna is a must.
Anything else that we mustn't miss out on?
How is the diving in Cuba? Should we take our own equipment or is the equipment they hand out in good repair?

provok'd wife, not sure where you are from, but if you only have 1 week and you want to see havana, I suggest either the jibacoa area (Breezes Jibacoa or Cameleon Jibacoa) or varadero. They are the closest resort areas to Havana.
We have quite a few divers on the forum so they can give you more input

I've only been diving with one outfit in Cuba, but their rental gear seemed pretty decent. Mares wesuits, Dacor dive gear.
If you're like me, I could live with the retal gear, but I Insist on taking my own Reg and Computer.
Happy Diving!

Thanks for your replies, we will be flying out of Toronto for one week.
I want to do the whole beach, all inclusive package, but I've also been looking at a week in Havana instead. I'm so confused by the choices in Cuba.
Can I get the best of everything by doing Havana?
Nice beach, nice hotel, the culture of Cuba and some diving thrown in as well?
Am I asking too much for a one week trip?

They do have packages that spend a few days in Havana then a few days on a more of a "beach resort",
Jibocoa is nearby & from what I heard not too bad for diving.

Hey there :) We thought that swimming with the dolphins at Varadaro was absolutely wonderful
