Hey you :) Im so jealous. Id go back tomorrow. Is this your first visit to Cuba? or just Varadero?
-
Hubby & I were at Playa Pesquero (Holguin) in Nov 05 but have never been anywhere else in Cuba. The other 2 couples have never been to Cuba and one of the couples has never been anywhere down south.
Have you stayed there before ?
-
ya. Wife and I have been to Varadero twice so far. Our first trip to Cuba was in Playa Turquesa in Holguin and we fell in love lol :) And one of the best ways to get around is the double decker bus. There is one always running either way on the strip. You pay your 5 pesos and your good for the day. you can get on and off at your discretion. THe horse and buggy is fun but expensive. The taxis are great. fast like all get out :) Oh and the priest is Canadian and he was asking me what was going on with the hockey back home :D .

We were there and loved it, I'm sure you will too.
Here are our pics Tryp Peninsula Varadero Photos (http://www.7daysinparadise.com/gallery/cuba-tpv)
The resort is quite spread out so there is some walking, but the gardens are nice to walk through.
Food was great, drinks were great and the beach is awesome!!!
If you have any specific questions, just ask.
We've also been to Playa Pesquero and I think that the rooms at Tryp Pen are much nicer.

Thanks flopnfly - beautiful photos!
What blocks of rooms would you recommend?
Were the a la cartes hard to get into ?
Was the game of 'reserve the beach/pool lounger' alive & well when you were there ??
-
lol I guess I wasnt answering the right questions lol

jammy ... not all all !!!! your info was helpful, so sorry if it seemed that way =( I did not mean to offend.
-
jammy gives some excellent advice there. :D
You'll enjoy Varadero so much more if you get off the resort and head into town.
Towel wars and lounge hogs were very evident at the Tryp, at least at the pool. We didn't have a problem getting a lounger on the beach.
there aren't any bad rooms, but the resort is divided into two areas. They tend to put the families in one section around the childrens pool and playground and all other adults around the main pool.
I'll have to look through my stuff and dig out the resort map for you.
We didn't eat at any of the al a cartes, we were more than satisfied with the buffet. But I heard from other guests that the al a cartes were fantastic and easy to book.

How was the internet ? Cost ?
-
lol Im a techi and I tell ya Ive never seen such poor internet. There is an *internet cafe* downtown Varadero and its 6 pesos an hour if I remember . Takes about that long to open a few pages :D So I say its a true holiday. Forget the phone and forget the internet :b:
