While I was snorkeling at Cayo Guillermo last week I saw a tiny seahorse in less than four feet of water. I took a picture but haven't got my film developed yet. I hope it turns out ok.
My question to the experts is: Is it usual to see them near shore like that, I was under the impression that they were found in deeper water.
It was so cute and tiny, maybe an inch high, I thought I was seeing things.

I'm no expert, but, I do know that it is possible to have sea horses in aquariums, so water depth is not essential.
The only important thing is water temperature, and Cuba surely qualifies here, so I would say that your eyesight (and your mind) are fine!

Thanks Gambitt for your reply. Now that I think of it, I wonder if I can have the photos (from an underwater camera) put onto a CD. Then we can print the ones we want. Do you know?

Yes, Walmart does it for me. :)

I saw a seahorse in the DR in August, only about 10' or so on our way out to the first reef, so I don't think depth is an issue
