Title: Dinner at Bohemia Havana
Post by: flopnfly on July 10, 2005, 11:14:00 AM
Steve,

what was that rice called that we had last night, and do you know how they make it?  It was delicious.

Hola Heather:

The rice we had last night is called "Moros y Cristianos" or "Moors and Christians"

It got that name in the 8th century in Spain. The dark-skinned Moors were invading Spain (white) and the dark red beans/white rice has been called that ever since.

Don't confuse Moros y Cristianos with the other Cuban rice dish, "Congri" which is Black Beans with with rice. Congri is also much more liquidy and sweet.

While there are many different recipes for Moros y Cristianos, here's one that you can try. No guarantee it will taste exactly like Alfredo's, but it should be close.

By the way, thanks to you and John coming down yesterday. The bigger the gang, the more the fun.

 Steve

Hubby and I will probably hit the BH for Dinner one Sunday evening in the near future (his day off).

Would you guys be interested in a same day call-out when we decide to go??   :)

Heck yes, just give us a call, or post a message. Always up for Alfredo's cooking at the BH.

Absolutely Sunluvr

Just post a message or give me a call whenever you're able to make it.

:D    :D

I thought that would be the response!

Mr. Sunluvr was rather jealous of my day out with the gang as it was, but when he found out the party graduated to the BH, well that was enough to make him REALLY pout!! The family reunion plans for this coming weekend are falling apart at the seams, so we might be around this Sunday.  Will keep you posted!

Donna, I'd love to join you for dinner again at the Bohemia!

Steve, in case I miss a last-minute posting because of my home computer woes, can you give me a call if/when the gang decides to return to BH?

 Thanks!

Probability, although a phone call would be better than a post as we find we're not on the computer much on weekends.

I mentioned the possibility of dinner at the BH for this Sunday and hubby's face lit up like a Christmas tree!  I will know better by the end of the week, so if everyone wants to PM cell phone #'s to me, I'll be sure to follow up.

I'll be out of town Saturday and part of Sunday, but if I'm home in time Sunday then I'll definitely be in.
If it's a go, call my cell and I'll at least get the message

I think it's looking pretty promising for this Sunday evening folks...so if we want to start a head count Hubby and I can commit to being there by 6:30 pm.  Hopefully those of you out of town for part of the weekend will be able to swing by and with some advance notice to Alfredo, maybe just maybe he can specially prepare some of those shrimp crepes again!!

 Shine...don't disappoint me!!    :)

Well, that makes him and Mr. Sunluvr in the same boat.  So we'll sit them together and they can talk shop...we probly won't get a word in edge-wise...just you watch and see!!

So Sunday at 5:45 then...we'll see you at my place!!! LOL    :D
