Title: New Trip reports Upload page wish list
Post by: JohnnyCastaway on May 22, 2005, 10:20:00 AM
This is the wish list for features that you'd like to see on the trip reports upload pages that I'm working on.  They are up on a test site now and you can see them here:
  View reports (http://www2.7daysinparadise.com/viewtr.aspx)

  Submit a report (http://www2.7daysinparadise.com/submitreport.aspx)

These pages do actually work, esthetics aren't all there yet, but we're working on it.  The will post information to a test database so please feel free to try out the features and let us know what you think.

A feature that we thought of while we were away are:

 1) have a category listing for the reports, to offer a regular trip report, as well as a Diving report --they would be accessed separately through the viewing page.

There should be a line for the title report so as to give readers an idea of what direction the review will take, such as Wonderful at Iberostar or Disappointed with Cuba, etc.

Would it be possible to have pole on a scale of 1 to 5 of how you rate the resort or a few poles perhaps along the lines of  overall rating, cleanliness, staff, food, entertainment

Good idea Garin,

I guess this means I have to give John his laptop back so he can get to work on it.  The etch a sketch just doesn't do it.     :D

That's quite a good idea Garin, I'd go along with that.  It would be like a 7 Days In Paradise star rating, similar to the tour operator's rating.

Would be able to give a resort a 4* rating though, or just a 4?

I just found this post, so I resubmitted my review on this format. (Heather and John, ignore the first one).
JC: there's no PCV listed on the view reports. Is that because I'm the first one to submit one?

Wendy:

If you go to John's FIRST post on this thread and then hit 'View Reports' then from 'Select a Country' select Cuba and then select Playa Costa Verde you will see it:

Wendy & Kristen Toronto Cuba Holguin Playa Costa Verde May 22-May 29  Read Report

Haven't read it yet as I thought I would get back to you and tell you first.

I think this is John's 'test' page - mine for the Melia showed up that way first as well.  John will move it over to the 'Trip Reports' at the top of this page when he returns tonight I would think.

Always glad to be of help!!!

WOW Wendy that is MY kind of report, absolutely fantastic.

You even make the PCV sound BETTER than the PP.

I felt as I was there with you when reading your report - top marks.

One little suggestion though, I would ask John or Heather to add a link to your photos at the bottom of the your review.

 Tremendous!!

Mr. B, J&H must have read your response cuz my pics are at the bottom of the review now.

Thank you for your kind words on my review. It is my first one after all and of course I thought of things to say after  :)
You for one would be thrilled to hear that the dreaded "tip jar" was not anywhere to be found here.
I really loved this place, it was perfect for me. Of course all places have their good and bad, but the good here so outweighs the bad, that for the life of me the only thing bad I can recall is the lack of mint at all the other bars  :)
The mojito challenge was dead before it ever got started  :)

mojitomiss_cuba:

I noticed that earlier this morning and posted to that effect on the PCV thread before I rather hijacked the thread, chatting away to millybess, for which I sincerely apologise.   This is what I said to save you looking it up:

 John:

I guessed you would make it available there on your return, complete with photo link.

It is a wonderful review, I have to admit.  Well worth reading.

It was the same at the PP - had I not obtained my own supply of mint I would only have had 3 mojitos all ortnight.

That was the good thing about the Melia CSM, there was a plentiful supply of mint, that's how I managed to down 145 in the two weeks.  I really could have drunk more, but I did fancy drinking millwoods later in the evening.   Also there seemed to be somewhat of a shortage of highball glasses in the lobby bar, so a lot of my mojitos were not very large at all.

Remember I did manage a visit to the PCV on my visit in February, because that is where lou, lawgirl1976 and flygirl were all staying, so I went there for lunch one day with them and also drank at the beach bar for two days
