I hope tankinis are still in, I bought a turquoise blue one this morning with beads on it.
Last year to DR I took 1 pink bikini, 1 black, 1 blue, 1 pink tankini and 2 swim suits for when we had to wear life jackets.
6 seems fine to me.

Bring a little box of "TIDE" with you so you can wash your bathing suits out. I just pulled up at the laundrymat and ran in and got a box out of the machine. That way you can bring less suits and still have clean ones, besides the clorine in the pools are hell on the fabric and elastic.
Freedom Ryder :7: .................

Okay 6 it is. I have taken more before but find that you always stick with your favourites so I'm just taking my 6 new ones. I always have travel wash with me whenever I go away.
I know exactly what you mean about the sun and chlorine damaging your bikini's.
Tankini's are still in in the UK. Plenty of them in the stores.

I usually take 10 for a week...
I spend so much $ on bathing suits and shoes that I can only afford 7 days in paradise :b:

Crashed and burned on the bikini buying today but I did get a t-shirt and a summer jacket. Its my travelling jacket - well thats what I told my husband and he seemed quite happy. He obviously hasn't checked my wardrobe recently to see just how many other jackets I had the choice of travelling in. He He. :D :D The t-shirt had to be purchased to match the jacket. Can't have me not matching at the airport!!

I usually bring 5 or 6. It's important to have different styles so that you can "vary your tan lines". I also have some skimpy ones that are for lying around on the beach, but no good for beach volleyball or swimming. Tankinis are great if you're windsurfing or kayaking, or doing something else active where the chance of having something "fall out" of a skimpy bikini just won't due.
Most resorts have showers around the pool and i often do a quick rinse after getting out of the pool - i swear it makes the bathing suit last longer as well as is better on your hair. That chlorine is evil. I also rinse out my bathing suit at the end of the day in my hotel and hang it outside in the shade (the sun is hard on the fabric as well).

You know what?? I've been to Jamaica twice, the DR, and to Cuba twice... and I've always taken 0, (that's zero, nada, niente) bikinis, and I've always survived the week (or 2)...
Somehow, if I took 'em; I'm thinking, I might not have!!! ;)
