Title: Registering with Foreign Affairs

Has anybody registered with Foreign Affairs when travelling out of Canada?

Never done it myself, but since you are off to Thailand, it might not be a bad idea.  At least that way, they know where you are, if something unfortunate were to happen.

I was in Boston in October 2001 when the US started bombing Afghanistan and the department of FA was advising anyone not on Canadian soil to head to their nearest embassy and register.  It was simply a matter of giving them my contact information in Boston and my departure date and flight information.
