Title: Breezes Puerto Plata? Diving?
Post by: debmich on June 25, 2005, 10:40:00 AM
Does anyone know about Breezes Puerto Plata? Is there a dive shop there? A dive shop close by? Prices? Availability?
I was checking it out and noticed that it seems to have a lot going for it, and it accepts kids 13 at reduced rates and I have a friend who will be traveling with a 13 year old and was interested!

We've been there.  We loved it.

They do have a dive shop, my brother in law got certified while he was there, he had great things to say about it.

the dive shop there was great, I enjoyed diving with them.  The actual shop is in Sosua, and that's where they take you out from.  They have about a dozen or so dive sites all around and just outside of Sosua bay (only a few minutes by boat before you're in the water).  There was a couple of walls, lots of good coral and lots of marine life.

Deb,

my kids loved it there, the pools and hot tubs and water slides are awesome.

They have the rock climbing and the trapeze and they have an ice rink with skates available.

This is a great place for kids and adults.  The casino and spa are now open, they were still building them when we were there.

The entertainment was pretty good too, except the power kept going out half way through a show.  They improvised with candles.

The rooms need to be updated, but they are fine.  Nothing fancy though.

The food was really good, and I had a bunch of picky eaters with me.

The beach isn't great for little kids, the waves can be quite rough and it drops off quick.

 anything else just ask.

If Johnny Castaway liked the dive shop in Sosua, then stick with that one, and Do Not let yourself be taken to the one in Rio San Juan!!

A word to the wise is sufficient!

the dive shop was called blue bay divers.
Marcel was the greatest.  I can't remember the other dive master, but I'll ask Heather's brother in law if he remembers.  It's a little shop just down at the bay.
