Title: Today was Che's birthday
Post by: Barbudos on May 14, 2007, 11:56:47 PM
He would have been 79 today, for those of you that care to celebrate.  I had a Cuba Libre (or three) in his honour.

Funny that the ladies think that way!  Well, not funny, it's okay.  I think he had the same problem in real life.  Did you know he turned his back on people asking for autographs?  He'd say, "I'm not a movie star," and then walk away.

Speaking of Che,

when is that movie supposed to be released?  I thought it was 2007??

Is this the one:

Guerrilla (2008)

Plot Outline:In 1964, Argentine revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara (Benicio del Toro) travels to New York City to address the United Nations.

Benicio Del Toro as- Ernesto 'Che' Guevara de la Serna

Apparently there are 2 movies in the works, both being filmed at the same time.  Guerrilla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerrilla_(film)) will focus on Che's life after the revolution, and The Argentine will focus on Che's role during the revolution.

I hope they're done well.  I rented a documentary at Blockbuster a few weeks ago and it was terrible.  Many facts were confused and the reinactments were poorly done.

I like Benicio though, he seems like a good choice to play Che.

I thought the "offical" Birthdate was June 14th.....

According to "a revolutionary Life" ( which I am reading currently) his birth certificate says June 14 but his mother admitted that it was actually May 14... they lied to avoid people knowing he was conceived out of wedlock.
