Hi all,
Planning a surprise trip for my hubby's 50th to Cuba in November. Checking out the various travel boards for ideas on the best resort to go to.

In your opinion, what is the nicest resort in Cuba? Someplace with a great beach and good snorkelling?
-
LOL... That post has 100 answers, and everyone will have their own, but here goes my try.
My favorite resort is the Playa Costa Verde, located in Holguin province. It's a 4 star resort, so it's a bit cheaper than a 5 star, but has more amenities than a 3 star. Everyone has to chose based, on thier own $$$ range.
Holguin is much farther south than Verdaro (distance comparable to going from Toronto to Charleston NC) , so the weather is, as a rule, somewhat warmer, during the winter months.
The PVC has a great staff, that is very friendly to guests. The food is good, and the specialty a la cartes are amazing. The beach has sandy areas for sunbathing, natural and man made shade, and a coral reef just off the beach for snorkelling and diving. (if you're a diver, I can go into a whole lot more depth) . The rooms aren't huge, but they're comfortable, and well laid out.
The PCV is not as big as some resorts, so there is more interaction between the guests, but it's big enough to find your own patch of sand, if you want to.

In my opinion the best resort and beach in Cuba is the Royal Hideaway Ensenachos.
The resort is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the service is out of this world.
The beach is the nicest I have seen anywhere, powdery white sand and crystal clear waters.
It's not an action packed type of resort, it's more for couples looking to get away and relax and be pampered.

Thank you. Is there good snorkelling off the beach at Royal Hideaway Ensenachos? We are not divers, but do like to snorkel and otherwise just relax.

Not great snorkelling but there is a wreck at one end of the beach that is good for snorkelling. It's fairly shallow there so you don't need to dive it. Lots of fish to see as well.
