CALGARY - Mexicana Airlines says it will introduce non-stop service between Calgary and Mexico City beginning June 1, 2008.

The new service will depart year-round from Calgary International Airport four times a week and offer connections to beach destinations and colonial cities throughout Mexico as well as cities in Central and South America.

"Canada is one of the most important regions in Mexicana's network of routes, and proof of this is the growth we have had in Canada over the last 10 years," Jorge Goytortua, the airline's vice-president West Coast, U.S.A. & Canada, said in a news release.

"Aware of the economic growth in the West, we have decided to incorporate Calgary as a new destination."

Calgary becomes Mexicana's fourth Canadian gateway, in addition to Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
