I wonder if the rate will be much different. They do march to the beat of their own drums. I think there is a money exchange thread at Debbie's, wonder if these differ very much. Must go check.

post the url. Id like to see it too :)

The Canadian and the US dollar are an absolute nightmare ! I have never known it to be so bad against Sterling, I use to get $2.20 Canadian to £1 sterling, now I would be lucky to get $1.45 or so. I am heading to Chicago in July so I am hoping that something gives between now and then, it's not looking too good for us ''poor'' Brits wanting to come over the pond. No Timmies for me this year !!

:happy3: Good for me and bad for you? Too bad. Im also watching to see what the Euro will do for our Italy Trip :)

Just got back yesterday - $1.00 CUC cost $1.1289 CDN at the Cadeca on Saturday, April 10th
-
That is fabulous!
-
wow, that's a good rate!!
Hope you had a great time!!
-
It was indeed awesome because last year in Cayo Santa Maria we paid $1.28! On Friday we changed some money and the exchange was actually $1.119 so we were pretty excited! Knew it was too good to last though!

Has it taken a climb?
-
Bren, I just checked the banco metropolitano rate today and 100 CAD will get you about 89 CUC

I just had a thought. What is you bought Canadian and then bought CUCS ?

Hi Jammy
No, it's a straight exchange rate from £ Sterling into the Dollar, both Canadian and US. It was only a year ago I was getting around $2.20 to the £, but both the US & Canadian $ has grown strongly whilst the £ has dipped in strength big time! So I was laughing all the way to the bank everytime I wanted to visit Canada or the US, now the laugh is on me !!

I've always felt the burn when I had to buy the UK pound, but now it's not as painful.
-
I hear you Heather....lol.......I am feeling the burn now that's for sure !!
Good for you guys, the trick is too buy why the rate is high, even if you are not travelling for a while. I stashed some $'s away last time the £ was high, but I am hoping the £ grows in strength again after the election (zzzzzzz).

But has anyone seen what the price of oil is doing? The last time our dollar went over parity with the US, gas was $1.25/litre. You might want to hold onto your exchange savings to fill your tank this summer (or pay the fuel surcharges on flights which I'm sure will eventually kick in as the oil price rises).
-
Petrol is sky high at the moment, to fill my small VW Golf with 50 litres of diesel yesterday, I paid £65.52 (about $105)....fuel here is £1.26 a litre, ($2.02)......not funny !!
-
Gas prices here in Ottawa are at about 96 cents a litre, whereas in Montreal they are bout $1.06 a litre.
-
Jammy, last week we got about 89 CUC for $100 Cdn.
-
:happy3: That is awesome

You guys will get an absolute bargain on the Euro as it's been getting an absolute battering since the downgrading of Greece's debt rating to 'junk' status.......the Euro is down on a one year low against the dollar.
