WestJet has just placed a Hurricane Travel Advisory on their website.
May cause delays or "cancellation" to flights between Nov 2 and Nov 6th.
Guests with flights to or from Caribbean destination on or near these dates are advised to "check on the status of their flight" prior to leaving for the airport."
Guests who want to make alternative arrangements can do so according to WestJet's "hurricane Promise"
Has anybody ever run up against this before. My flight is on Nov 6. I have to make a connecting flight in Toronto. I won't find out if the Toronto to Samana flight is cancelled until I might be in the air to Toronto.
If we decide to continue with our existing travel plans and the trip is interrupted or impacted as a result of a hurricane, we will not be eligible for compensation, credit files or refunds of any kind.
This sucks.
Help, suggestions. Please. I want to go to Samana!

:sunny: Sent you a pm but forgot to add that we will be notified in Halifax if the flight to Samana is cancelled. The way they have worded the advisory is kind of misleading as it includes the whole Caribbean. Right now the only advisories they have are for Turks and Caicos, Puerto Plata, and Montego Bay. Must get back to my packing.

It does not look good right now.... especially for poor Haiti.

This mornings tracking shows it going between Cuba and Haiti on Friday as a Cat 1 Hurricane. If it stays on course now, Haiti won't see it come across them but they will still get the winds and rain. Not what they need!
For us, the Hurricane will be long gone before we ever leave home. : )

:sunny: I wish. We are driving to the Halifax airport tomorrow through the remnants of Paula! Can't seem to avoid hurricanes this year!

Paula, who is Paula, I never heard about her. I guess I have to get out more often.
