Tickers
« on: December 05, 2005, 08:33:00 AM »
Just a note to let everyone know, you can't use special charactors, like an apostrophe, in the text of your ticker, or it won't work on the site.

 Just spent three days trying to figure out why it worked on my desktop, but not on the site.

 Must be some conflict in the coding.

<GeekSpeak on>
 the apostrophe is considered a single quote in HTML and without a closing quote will cause an error in the page, conversely, it can prematurely close a quote, so the entire code doesn't get into the link.
 Isn't HTML fun?

Trying to figure out what a ticker is? Is that the part at the bottom of a post ie: where people have travelled or a quote that appears in each individual"s post> If it is,  how do you add it? Thanks for the help. I've been wondering for a few months now.   :duh:

Well that is the place where a ticker would be...but it more of a count down ticker you make like the one I have (silly one) but you make it to what your doing or going away...it counts down daily...and you paste a link to it from the ticker site you created it from..

 Hope that helps...  :)

First thing you need to do is create on at a SITE like tickerfactory.com...

 After you do you need to copy the link to the ticker (copy the URL)

 Now on this site...

 Click on my profile at top
 Click on View/Update Profile
 then paste your link to the Signature: box
 Then click update profile at bottom of page...

Thanks Bulldog. Makes complete sense. I've seen a few now that I think of it. I guess what I need to know is: How do you put info at the bottom of your posts that are standard to your individual message. For example Lots of people put in a list of resorts that the've been to or a quote?
