Easter
« on: August 18, 2005, 09:15:00 AM »
:)   With Easter falling on April 16/2006 there is a good chance we will be in Cuba or DR at that time.  I was wondering how Easter is celebrated in these two countries and what shuts down at this time.

Not speaking from personal experience, but I would imagine very little will shut down over the Easter period.

It's sure to be 'business as usual' at all the resort hotels.

I know when I was in Antigua over Easter all the bars in my hotel remained closed on Good Friday until 6pm but Christianity is the norm there.

DR takes Easter seriously.  Most of the activities are cancelled for that weekend, as well as water sports etc.

I'm not sure about Cuba, I don't think they celebrate as much.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

I have been in Cuba during Easter Week, it is business as usual.  In terms of religious celebrations, there is very little, they are very low key.
