Mosquitos at the PP
« on: June 20, 2005, 01:50:00 PM »
Dizzy, from Milton Keynes in the UK, has just posted 'live' from the PP over on Debbies with regard to the mosquito problem they have there at the moment - another reason why I can't understand why people want to go to Cuba right now, in the rainy season!!

For anyone to say they will glad to come home from the PP, it has got to be bad.

Hello bellagio,
So glad you posted this item. Our Cuban friends have warned us several times over the years ..not to come to Cuba during the summer months due to the mosquito infestation. This is quite common in various Cuban areas during the wet summer months.
I know the travel deals are out there but remember you're in the tropics when travelling to Cuba.

Thanks MCB.  I have always said I cannot understand why people want to travel to Cuba at this time of year, particularly as the weather is at it's best in our own countries and it's still light at night until 10pm.

I did have a very long PM from lesab33 on this subject just before she went away and when she explained her particular circumstances I could understand her reasons for being away, as she is, at the moment.   Also over here in the UK people want to go abroad with their kids during the school holidays and so I can understand where they are coming from too.

I think that us retired folk, who can pick and choose when we can go away, tend to look at things in a different light.   We are not under stress or desperate to get away for a break from our jobs, all we want to do is to go away in the winter to escape the cold, long, dark nights and that horrible winter weather.

Just one of the few perks of being retired, I suppose!!!!

Hello bellagio,
You know all this talk, about being retired, will certainly make other forum members who are still working "a little frustrated".Maybe they'll note that retirement in a sense is "paradise".
We just took a break ..from "packing/cleaning" and with the great weather today (sunny and 19C)in northern Alberta..and had a refreshment on the deck (yes, screened in).
In the time it took us to finish one beer, we had "zapped"..love those electric rackets.. at least five mosquitos (the ones that fold their wings to get through the screen and ignore the mosquito coils smoking away on the deck).
Looks like it will be a bad year for mosquitos here in Alberta as well as in Cuba.
Now back to the packing for a bit.  ;)
