It's exactly the same over this side of the pond.   I have visited countless travel agents these past few weeks in a vain attempt to get a competitive quote on my projected November PCV trip.

Not one of them knew offhand that the destination airport was Holguin and four of them even asked me which hotel I wanted to stay at 'on the Playa Costa Verde'.

Then when they eventally come up with a price in excess of £1000 and I explain that is way too high, most of them reply 'Well Cuba is becoming very popular now'.   How on earth would they know?

Hi Everyone:   The closest I get to an TA these days is picking my tickets up at Sunholidays but seeing as the local office has now closed, I won't be doing that anymore.  I just checked the Sears site and Yourtraveltickets.com for prices for my next trip (hopefully) in October to Jibacoa... Sears $2084 for two of us... Yourtraveltickets..$1844.    Sears aren't going to provide $250 worth of service IMHO.   But now I know they have an on-line site... I may just check them out from time to time.... Thanks for the info.

Reply to bmnichol:
We went to the Club Amigo Carisol near Santiago.
Apparently  there was extensive damage in the area caused by hurricane Dennis.  I don't know if or when it will reopen.

It was billed as a 3.5*.  We had a lovely time. It was very clean, the staff were great, the food was not fancy but we always found something we liked.  For the price we paid we were very satisfied.
