Diving in Juan Dolio DR
« on: January 28, 2007, 03:33:00 PM »
Just returned from the Barcelo Talanquera and I did a dive with Neptune Dive Operation in Juan Dolio.

It is a nice operation run by a German couple that have owned it since November 2006.  The previously owned and operated a dive shop and travel agency in Germany, but decided to live their dream and moved to the DR.

I did the Coral Gardens dive which is a shallow dive and we did 42 feet.

This was my first "boat dive" since my certification 2 months ago in Curacao, and I got to try out my new regs that I received for Christmas.

They dropped anchor about 5 minutes off shore, and we followed the anchor line down.

Once again my ears bothered me, but I took my time and after 15 feet I was fine.

Visibility was fair to poor and the coral was alive but covered for the most part.

We saw a lobster, a large trumpet fish, a ray, and others saw a large Barracuda but he was too quick for me to see.     :(

Depth was 42 feet and bottom time was 51 minutes and I came up with 1100 PSI, not bad for a beginner.

This was only my 2nd certified dive, and I enjoyed it.

I'm sure that John will follow along with more details on the diving.
