Problems getting Avatar to work?

Hi:
 
 I am trying to use the following as my Avatar:
 
  TheTraveller's Avatar
 
 I add it to my profile and update, but it doesn't show up on my posts.  Does it only show up on posts after I have added the avatar?

:)  Thetraveller:  there are some members here who can answer this properly and I am not one of them  ;)   I found when I was putting my count down ticker on (and my avatar when I had one) that it would show up on all posts after I posted again.
