How do you prefer to receive your vacation tickets?
« on: September 12, 2005, 05:59:00 PM »
I have 24 hours to decide on whether I want to a. have my tickets mailed by Canada Post b. pick up my tickets at the airport on departure c. have them sent by courier with a fee or d. pick them up at the local tourist office.  Last year we picked them up at the airport with no problem except that we couldn't find Sunquest's desk.  Has anyone ever experienced problems with any of these delivery metheods??

If I remember correctly you are going to the Iberostar Varadero next April.

Surely you would be saver to have your tickets sent by post or courier rather than risk picking them up at the airport. I always like to have my tickets in my hand, if possible, a couple of weeks before I fly.

I ALWAYS have them mailed.  I just need those tickets in my hands.  I like to fill out the tourist visas, get the passports out for all of the information that's needed.  I just can't wait to pick them up at the airport.

We always use selloffvacations.  They tell me that they'll mail them 3 weeks before departure.  After I book, I call them back about a week later and tell them I haven't received my tickets.  So they mail them out right away.  A little sneaky, but I just love having the tickets.

Millybess:  How far ahead do you book??  I have 6 months to my trip but have to make this decision in 24 hours.  There are no flight times yet as well!!

Bellagio:  You are correct--it is the IV.  As for Canada Post--that is definitely out.  Last year, I never even thought about it since a lot of air travel is essentially "tickletless" and so we chose to pick them up at the airport and I presumed that is what many others would do.  There were only three of us picking up tickets!

Well, I have booked 4 months in advance before for March Break.  They did have flight times for March Break at that point.

I would still ask for them to be mailed and then as soon as you see the flight times come up online, phone them.

We got our new passports last week. When we went to pick them up at the postal outlet DH's was there - mine wasn't. Called Canada Post and confirmed that the outlet had signed for it - anyway, long story short, it finally turned up stuck in the wrong drawer behind something 3 days later. Would never trust our tickets to them after that.

We have always had good luck picking them up at the airport or from the TA's office.

Lately we've been booking last minute, so we have to have airport pickup.  But if I have booked in advance, I pick them up at the travel agents.

Guess we shouldn't complain about the UK postal system.  Tickets here in the UK automatically come out to you be standard post and I've never had any problems.  The only time you ever collect them at the airport is if you book to late for them to get the tickets out to you by mail.  Only ever did this once and I hated not having the tickets in my hands before we set off for the airport.  Ended up setting off for the airport extra early as I was convinced that there would be a problem picking them up, and I took every bit of paperwork I had to convince them I had booked the holiday!!

I always collect mine direct from the travel agents - unless it is a last minute deal - my mum is flying to Boston to visit my Uncle next week and he booked the tickets direct with British Airways and there are no tickets it is all email confirmation and she checks in with that.

I start badgering the travel agents about 1 month before I go - its part of my build up.

We normally pick ours up from the Travel Agent. One year everybody else got their tickets two weeks before we were supposed to leave except two couples. After a few phone calls by the TA to the tour provider, the tickets were shipped a day or two later. I think someone screwed up and if we hadn't started to squeak we would have been doing some scrambling.  :sunin:

Depends, if I book on-line I get them shipped by courier.  If I book at a local TA I pick them up!

I just like to have those tickets in my hand ... and not have to worry ... what if ...!     :t:

Huskypup:

Heck I'm only just UNPACKED from Canada and I go to Cuba next Wednesday a full 8 days before you fly.

I think you should come over to visit and help organise me - I have masses of laundry, followed by ironing, lawns that have grass six inches high to mow, opticians, dentists, flu jabs, plus numerous other jobs to do before I even think about packing.

I'll PM you with my details so we can speak on the phone and arrange a meeting time and place at the PP.

I am very organised I have to be, I have 800 people relying on me everyday to ensure that they have somewhere to sleep, dizzy heights of promotion has made me Station Accommodation Manager, though Im not sure about the new office it used to be the kitchen!!

My husband says I am compulsive, when it comes to things like this, I have to be organised then checked and checked again, and you should see me when I start on the cleaning before I go.

Now 6" high grass I could never cope with, it actually stresses me, I have to have a tidy garden.

Whats your address Im on my way.

I have mowed both my lawns this afternoon and now have to start on my dinner.

I don't like this scenario - for the past month I've been waited on hand and foot by lovely Canadian ladies...............I wanna come HOME (to Canada, of course!!!)
