HALIFAX (CP) - Fewer Americans visited Nova Scotia in July compared with the same month last year, but the drop was more than offset by an increase in Canadian visitors.
Statistics released by the Tourism Department indicate a 10 per cent drop in American visitors in July, and 15 per cent fewer visitors from other countries.
However, there was also a nine per cent increase in visitors from other parts of Canada.
Overall, Nova Scotia saw five per cent more visitors in July 2007 compared with July 2006.
So far this year, the department says Nova Scotia has welcomed more than one million visitors - the same as the first seven months of 2006.
