Please post all comments to Steve on his Havana Blog here.  We'll leave the blog for Steve to post in only so that we have a clean chronology of his travels and adventues.

As usual, enjoying reading Steve's updates. Today's really hit home for me. The part about the state of some of the living conditions and how heavy his heart was on the way home. When we were there last fall, we didn't do the usual tourist tour and were in some areas that I too could not bring my camera out to photograph. Like Steve, I felt it was too intrusive to these proud people. But the state of many of those apartments/buildings will stay in my head forever.

What a dichotomy Cuba is.

We got off the beaten path at one point, and I couldn't believe the state of some of the buildings and the dirt and squalor that they are living in.
