Cayo Coco Questions
« on: May 05, 2005, 08:53:00 AM »
We're leaving for Cayo Coco next Friday and I was wondering:

- where is the money exchange at the airport
- are there shuttle services over to Guillermo
- has anybody been to Playa Pilar

Thanks a lot for any help.

The money exchange is just after you clear customs on the left hand side. You'll probably see a line-up. If someone is traveling with you, have one of you get in line and the other get the bags. We were about five people from the front of the line when the tour person came through the doors yelling. "You can change your money at the resort, the bus is leaving." We grudgingly moved to the bus where we waited another 10 - 15 minutes before we left. :(

Don't know about your other questions. There may be a shuttle, I forgot to check into that.

Thanks. Did you visit Moron or the city of Ciego de Avila?

Correct about money exchange, didn't use it, there was a bank outside the Daiquiri.

Not sure about a shuttle to Guillermo

And yes, been to Playa Pilar twice now. Easy for us to get to and I believe you can get day tours from hotels in Cayo Coco.

We went to Moron and liked the day, not too long ... it included a few other stops (Alligator farm, Mangrove tour, Animal show) ...

We went to Moron on a 1/2 day trip. Left the resort at 9:30 and returned at 3:30. Our trip involved a horse and buggy ride around moron (about 1/2 hour), free time to wander (about 45min). Short bus ride to a canteena to listen to some musicians and have a cool drink. After the canteena we went to a place by a railroad to have lunch. I don't know if there were alligators there, our guide didn't say there was. After lunch we went to a lake for a ride through the mangroves. We all felt it was well worth the cost (either $36 or $39). :bus:

Thanks bmnichol. This is one of the reasons we wanted to go to Cayo Coco. However, 45 mins. to look around doesn't seem like much time. There's a museum there we'd like to see. I wonder how much it would cost to go privately.

I think you can get a taxi and go on your own.

Does anyone know if there is a craft market at Cayo Coco or Guillermo, or at any of the Sol Melia resorts in the area?

Thanks.

Thanks a lot Bulldog. That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. :3sum:

I guess I'll find out when I get there whether they also have them at our resort. If not, I'll take a trip to the Tryp!

millybess,

There is a little craft market at the El Senador every afternoon at 4:00 pm. I am not sure about the other resorts. They have some neat things there. :) Have a great time.
