I have uploaded some of our photos from Playa Pesquero.  More to come but these were the digital ones we had.

Great pictures.  Brings back some good memories, and definitely stirs up the cuba withdrawal syndrome.  I was hoping to see some people pictures too.  I recognize EdieLazaro from the beach watersport signup area - he's a cool guy.  Do you have any other people pictures (you know who i'm looking for).    ;)

I WANNA GO BACK!!!!!

Excellent pictures Heather, brought back such happy memories to me.

You have created a comprehensive review of the PP in picture form.

On my last day there they were pulling down the extension to the lobby bar built in the form of a train.   That coffee bar that's shown on one of your photos looks very similar in design to what they had there previously.

I don't remember seeing the hammocks either and they had not put up the palapas around the beach bar whilst I was there, although they were in the process of doing so.

I recognised Eddie the Lizard also - in fact I spoke twice on the phone to him whilst Tuss was there whilst I was trying to speak to Mailin.   He remembered me - I whipped him at Tennis in a revenge match as he had just, and only just, beaten me at Table Tennis a couple of days previously.

We have about another 10 rolls of film still be to developed, these were the ones on the digital camera.  I should have more up in a few days.  Hopefully they all turn out.

Ah the memories.  Edie the lizard?  nice nickname.  Edie was one of the first people i met when i arrived at midnight.  He was hanging out at the disco and he later helped me organize some windsurfing lessons.  He played volleyball a few times when i was there as well.  Nice guy.

I just got off the phone with the PP.  I chatted with Hector - Danny was on his day off.  BAd phone line once again and i got cut off.  Only took me about 15 tries to get a line thru - damn cuban phone system.

Mr. B - do you have trouble getting thru on the phone?  I got lucky a couple times and got a good line, but lately i haven't had much luck.

We had some waterproof cameras that we used for snorkelling and on the catameran.  John took his big camera as well, but I think we'll end up with a lot of duplicate shots of the resort.

Tuss:

Who do you think I am Donald Trump or someone??  I'm only a poor old retired gent from the UK who couldn't possibly afford to go around ringing Cuba from the UK.

The calls I made to the PP were from Cayo Santa Maria and despite being told it would cost 65 centavos a minute to ring the PP from Cayo Santa Maria I've just this minute checked my bill and found out I was charged 1.05 cuc's per minute.  That seems a bit steep to me for calls made WITHIN Cuba.

I'm not complaining because it was well worth it but it is somewhat of a 'tourist' rip off.  No way do the local people have to pay that amount to call from a call box within Cuba.    Problem at Cayo Santa Maria there is no where else to use a phone other than at your hotel.

1.06CUC???  I"m paying less than that from Canada.  Check with your phone company or get a phone card - you should be able to get a decent rate!

Precisely Tuss.

1.05 cuc's per minute to ring from the Melia in Cayo Santa Maria to the Playa Pesquero in Holguin I did think was excessive.

I've not looked into the price of calling from the UK, but I will do for curiosity's sake.

Just checked out your photos Heather.  Playa Pesquero looks lovely.  It was on my shortlist for December but has now moved right up to pole position.  Only problem is I can't find any deals for it at the moment.  Typical really as just before I went away I could get a good deal on this and the Bahia Principe Punta Cana.  My only problem then was deciding which hotel to choose.  I made the wrong decision of waiting until after my holiday to book and now nothing much is available  :t:
May 2004 - Bahia Principe Tulum
Dec 2004 - Sunscapes Casa Del Mar
 May 2005 - Riu Negril
Dec 2005 - Bahia Principe Punta Cana
 May 2006 - Playa Pesquero
Dec 2006 - Sunscape The Beach
May 2007 - Bahia Principe Coba

Thanks JJay, PP is a beautiful resort so their are lots of kodak moments.

I couldn't find a deal on it when we were going.  I think the days of the deals are over.  Now we just get to choose which resort we want to go to.

I don't know whether "deals" are dead - we went to Cuba for the first time this Spring - checking websites from the UK for next year the prices currently look a bit cheaper already.

:welcome:  to Paradise, brewer dave.

Did you stay at the Playa Pesquero then?

I suppose it all depends on what you paid and what you consider to be a bargain.

Personally I have not seen a price on line from Thomas Cook, First Choice or Eclipse Direct that I would consider a bargain myself.

My idea of a bargain is £650 or less for two weeks.   If you know of something around that price for either this autumn or early next year please let me know.

I suppose because I'm single I only tend to look for deals for singles and can, therefore, sometimes miss out on certain good deals.

Anyway it's great to have you on board.   Hope to see plenty more of your posts in the future.

Brewerdave welcome to the board.

I think we did get a good deal for the Playa Pesquero, I was happy with what I paid.

Previous years I've seen prices much lower than this year, I guess that's what I meant by the deals are dead.
