Hi Nicki

I have heard that some airlines will allow you to store your wedding dress insider the cabin rather than have to have it checked in. I suggest you contact your tour operator/airline direct to check. After all I'm sure they would hate to see your dress get damaged as much as anybody. This way you carry your dress through customs as hand luggage (I think)!!!!

 All the best

We saw that on one of our flights.  It was a light to Varadero though.

There was about 8 brides on the flight and all their gowns were hanging up at the front by the door.      :)
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

If you can't carryon your wedding dress, then try using that clear drycleaner plastic thing over it to avoid any "dirty hands" from touching it.  Also, try to learn the spanish phrase for "this is my wedding dress, i don't want my husband to see it" or something similar.

MOst of the customs people are actually quite pleasant.  I had one in Varadero a few years ago - he was scrutinizing my passport and i was getting very nervous.  Then he said "you have been to many many nice places"  then he starting asking where the stamps were from and what the places were like.  Then he wished me a pleasant holiday and waved goodbye as i exited the little booth.     :cuflag:
