back from varadero
« on: July 19, 2005, 09:38:00 AM »
Well we are back from Sandals Hicacos, we got back to Peterboro Mon.morning 5:30.

All in all our trip was not to bad we had it better then some who arrived even a day earlier, some had no air still or hot water, we only did without hot water for a day not a big deal.

Some of the stories were not good and really glad we missed those days (the evacuation sounded like real kaos).

Its hard to be real fair for a review because everything still wasn't 100% when we left. I personally still enjoyed myself and only because I wasn't one of the many that got sick (my husband did, he still has a bad taste in his mouth).

Staff were fabulous I have never been to a resort with such nice people, didn't matter if you tipped or not you got great service right down to the maid service---excellent.

Weather was great just a few clouds the last couple of days.

Only beef we have is with Signature and Sell Off Vacations we were not given any options of changing our flight until 8:30 P.M when we picked up our tickets at the airport. I had been talking to Sell Offs on Sat. and Sun. and was told each day no options. (not true) People in Montreal with Air Transat we being approached at the airport on the Sunday saying not to go and if they still wanted to they had to sign a waiver and some of the people on our flight didn't even get the letter we had with our tickets.

But all in all not so bad and at least the weather was good. We are not happy with Signature at all, didn't even get a briefing, we had to hunt down our rep and didn't find him until Wed.

Our resort only had trees and lights down and the resort will be really nice when they get the water running through  again in the reflecting pools.

Oh yea the bugs were kinda bad I guess people got really chewed up before they finally sprayed the resort (I'm still a bit lumpy and itchy but they like me).

Anyway I could say more but I must move along have things to do, any questions I will be happy to answer them.

Welcome back, Bonnie.   I had been wondering how you had fared but didn't want to pester you as I guessed you would 'report' in fairly soon.

Unfortunately we cannot choose when the hurricanes strike and it looks like you made the best of it despite very trying and difficult circumstances.

Sorry to hear about Steve getting ill - that really surprises me.   Do hope that he is feeling much better now and that all the bug bites you received have disappeared.

Did you still manage the celebratory anniversary dinner on the 11th?  I did raise my glass to wish you a Happy Anniversary late on in the evening.

Looks like you may have had better holidays, but all things taken into consideration you seem to have enjoyed yourself.     Steve can take some consolation that he should be able to see his beloved Leafs next season.

Look forward to seeing you at CN3.

Welcome back Bonnie,

I was thinking about you while you were away.  I'm glad you were able to make the best of it.  It sounds like you liked the resort despite everything.

Sorry to hear about your husband getting sick, was it from something he ate?
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Hi just got back home and thank you Mr. B. for that toast.
We did get to have our Annv. dinner but no champagne and dinner was good.

The resort is saying that all the illness was viral but I still insist it was the soup he had on Tues. lunch, we were only there a day and a half before he fell ill and the same with many others, but who knows he lives to tell the tale.

Unfortunately the resort did not tell the truth to people who called directly and emailed because like I said it still wasn't up and running as it should be on Sunday night, (but I was content). Also that resort did evacuate.
Gotta run, we are still on holidays and have to head out again.  <img border="0" alt="[thing]" title="" src="graemlins/huepfen003.gif" />
