Why aren't we doing October aint so Sober?
« on: August 12, 2005, 07:09:00 PM »
Been checking selloffs and why-oh-why aren't we doing October-ain't-so-sober instead of November to Remember??? wahhh

The pcv for weeks of Oct 15 and 21 is 657+ for Friday departure and 676+ for the Sunday departure.
Club Amigo 476+ for the Friday departure and 507+ for the Sunday departure
You all know I am so tempted to jump all over this don't you. This was less than I payed in May.
November is still way up there   :(

Hi Wendy
The reason Nov. was picked was because Heather and John could'nt get time off untill the 12/13of Nov. If that has changed then we could look at other dates! Don't worry Nov. will come down (it is still Hurricane season) and last year we went to Varadero for $488 plus tax and Club Amigo was about the same!

F&T, I didn't know that about Heather and John. I just thought someone mentioned November and it kind of snowballed from there. Well that makes a big difference doesn't it.

God I hope the prices come down cuz I truly almost pulled out the Visa and booked it  :)

Keep the VISA under wraps.... Usually Nov. is a little bit higher than Sept./Oct. but remember we (from Canada) have some flexibility. We can usually fly Fri./Sat./Sun. and from Toronto we have the option of many flights and times over a 3 day period! so relax and we will get to Cuba.... Just don't get into the "RUT" of having to return to the same resort each time. Keep your options open and you will meet new people and enjoy new experiences! Now Smack me if you like....   :1:   ....F&T

Freddie my boy, you do notice that I actually showed the pricing for the Club Amigo as well as the PCV. And that Sunday price was for the Villas too! The Friday price was AT in the Bungalows.

The only thing about the Amigo is drinks are only included until 11:00 pm. I could seriously end up dropping some big bucks that week if I have to bury Bellagio in the Mojito Challenge  :)

It's very hard isn't it Wendy.  September & October are hard to pass up.  Just remember that magic word "HURRICANE" ....mind you it's been quiet right now.

Can I offer you a solution that works for me??
Go look at the names of the storms to come and see if there are any personal feelings you have towards any of the storms to be.  Presently there is Irene. I can't travel in the next few weeks until "L" passes.  L is Lee and that is my boss's middle name.  He will ruin my vacation as he did last year - Ivan - is John in Ukrainian and his name is John.

I am crazy?   Yes ...but it works. I take the names personally.  Next year "L" is Leslie... no way will I travel till she passes.

Not true, the 24 hour bar is located in the villa section and makes the best Ron Punch.... It's not advertised but it's there!!!!

I can't go in September, we have the auditors coming in and I've already pushed them back because of this vacation.  I can't tell them not to come in September because I'm going on vacation again.     :D

So September is out for us.  October "should" be ok, but November is always better for us.

I can only go after the 10th of the month and have to be back for the 1st.

Other than that, I'm free.     :D

There is NO way, I could go to an AI and pay for drinks after 11pm.

My normal speed is a day in the sun; diving and "pooling" and then a big dinner.(dinner should never come before sunset),  Followed by the obligatory nap, from 8-10, and THEN do the bars till all hours.

I might as well go European plan, as it would be cheaper to pay for dinner, than the AI prices.

Well, this resort we are going to only serves drinks until 11 and then the cash bar opens in the disco.

Not a problem for John and I because we are usually sound asleep by that time.  The girls might not find it so great having to pay in the disco though.  It depends on how much they are charging for the drinks, and how much they plan on drinking.

Was out with my travel pal tonight.  She asked out of the blue what my travel plans are for next year (assuming I'm all booked up for this year)   ;)   I actually caved and admitted that I was considering taking a group trip in November...to which her eyes lit up like a freakin Griswald's Christmas tree.

I've been pondering the idea heavily lately and basically had concluded that it wasn't feasible to go on the group trip this year, but if the prices drop (and Wendy, believe me, they really DO drop!) and there is some flexibility in dates, this might still be doable for me if I can wrap my mind around the idea of sharing a room again for a week.  We don't return from Jamaica till Oct. 6th and I'm tied up with work committments the week I return Oct. 10-14.  I could probably juggle most other dates there and around November, so long as a couple of specific weeks are pencilled in so that I can keep my schedules clear.

In November 2001 I had exactly the same problem at the hotel close to where Heather and John are staying in the DR.

The only bar that was open after 11pm was the beach bar and you had to pay for drinks there.  This young lady had the perfect answer, stocking up on the vodka and orange before the free bar closed:

Tracie and I are'nt sure if we are going to stay at Club Amigo or wherever. We are of the understanding that the villa bar is a freeby 24 hrs. (could be wrong) also the bars along the beach are open..$1 a beer, or as Bellagio pointed out there is always the big Timmies Thermal Jug which should do nicely until the wee hours!!!

           Cheers.....F&T

We could look at the end of Oct.(anything is possible)   :cuflag:
