Mambo Lounge 120 Danforth Avenue, east of Broadview, Toronto ON
Mambo Lounge on the Danforth We had the pleasure of dining at the Mambo Lounge on the Danforth tonight, and it was a definite pleasure.
The Mambo Lounge is Toronto newest Cuban restaurant, offering excellent food, drink and fantastic Cuban music.
Located on the Danforth, just east of Broadview, it is easily accessible by subway, with lots of parking just behind the restaurant. Although I would advise you to either take a taxi or TTC because once you've sampled their mojito's you won't want to stop. :D
Up until tonight, the best mojito I had tasted was one of Tefy's at Bohemia Havana, but she has some competition from the lovely bartender at the Mambo Lounge.
The restaurant is charming, decorated in red and black with wonderful photo's of Cuba on the walls.
The tables are set with crisp white tablecloths, sparking glasses and candles to add to the ambiance.
There is a large bar where you can sit and enjoy a drink or two while listening to the live music. Tonight they showcased Evaristo.
Every Friday and Saturday night, Evaristo performs at Mambo Lounge, Toronto''s newest venue for Cuban food and live Latin music. The performance has Evaristo returning to his roots on solo guitar, combining his unique skill in interpreting the Cuban ''Feelings'' movement, as well as Nueva Trova, traditional Cuban Son, and Evaristo’s own original songs.
They have a quaint little patio out back with tables and umbrellas which will easily sit another 20 people, possibly more.
The menu is quite extensive, and caters to all tastes.
We started the night off with a mojito, and yuca fritos and Chorizo sausage. Excellent!!!
I then had "Lechon Asado" Roasted Pork, cuban rice and vegetables.
Presentation was magnificent, and the pork melted in my mouth. The rice could have been warmer, but it tasted great regardless.
John had the "Bistec a la plancha" panseared Beef Steak.
It received great reviews from John, which means a lot considering he loves his steak. He said it was done to perfection, and melted in his mouth. Highly recommended.
We washed all this down with several mojitos, cristals and afterwards we had coffee with rum of course. :D
Several hours later, we left the owner behind and promised to return very soon.
We had an excellent evening, and I encourage all of you to try them out.
The Mambo Lounge is a welcome addition to the danforth.
