Cindy,

yes, that's the correct email for sending reviews.

John is actually working on a program that will allow you to type or cut and paste your review directly onto the website.  He's been working hard on it, but there are still a few little glitches mainly in the formatting of the review.

As my review for the Melia, Cayo Santa Maria is nearly ready for posting I wondered if there was any further news about this cutting and pasting one's review directly onto the website?

I'm hoping to have a "Beta version" ready to show shortly, but it will still have to be tweaked, so please send them in the regular way for now (MS Word documents, or anything similar are fine, or just paste them into an email, we can post them from there).  Once I have an operational version ready to show, I'll be asking everyone to try it and give us some feedback, and a "wish-list" of features.     :D

Thanks John for the prompt reply.  Sorry to have dropped that one in your lap so soon after your  return from your holiday, but I was dying to try out this exciting new feature.

I'll email my trip report through to you early next week once I get around to putting the finishing touches to it.

Not a problem Bellagio,
I was hoping to have an operational copy before we left, but time wasn't on my side.   The good thing now is that I have a fresh outlook on things.    :D

OK, Here we go...

Here's the prototype of what I've been working on, these pages should all work, they will be posting to a test database, so feel free to play around with it, and send us some feedback on likes and dislikes.  I'll also create a topic for a "wish list" in the technical section so if there are any things that you'd like to see included in the pages, post it there and I'll see what I can do to add them.

To submit a repot click here

To view the reports click here

the final page of the "view reports" is a page that I'm not happy with, and I'm working on the layout to make it less "clunky" and show a bit more info on the author of the report.

As mentioned before, this does work, and posts into a test Database, so if you want to try out the "cut and paste" side of things, please do, also try the text formatting available in the report box.  You can do Bold, underlined, different colors and sizes of text etc.

Also, let me know if it gives you any errors, and if you do get errors, please let me know what browser you are using.

 Thanx    :t:    :t:    :t:

Great work John and thanks.   I'm off to the shops now to do some grocery shopping.   I must try and keep away from the forum for a few hours so that I can finish my review off and get it posted, hopefully later tonight.

It just needs a few finishing touches.  One question though.  Once I've posted it will I be able to amend it myself.  For example if I suddenly think of something I've missed will I be able to get back in and amend it?

Must fly - no not to Cuba to my local supermarket!!!

Not yet, but it's on the To-Do list.

 Thanx Bellagio

John:

Well I've just now submitted my review of the Melia hotel via the new link by cutting and pasting it in from the email that I was going to use addressed in the usual way to submissions@7daysinparadise.com

Now when I go in through the 'To view the reports click here' on your earlier thread I can access my review.   However if I click on the Trip Reports at the top of the page it doesn't show up.

Is that because it has to vetted before it goes out for all to see?  If so when will it be available?

I had no problems cutting and pasting it in, but I was unsure of what size font to set so I left it at size 2.

John:

Also you may wish to change the font to bring it in line with all the other reports that have been previously submitted.  It looks quite strange and small in Arial 10.

Actually, the links on the top of the forum pages are to the current trip reports section, I haven't updated those to show the new one yet, until we have all of the bugs worked out.  I've just added your review to the main trip reports so it should show up there now.

I've noticed that too, its a bit of a strange way to show the fonts, I'll have a poke around it to see if there's a way to make it the normal way we see fonts.   :wall:

Congratulations on getting everything up to speed - I think you are doing a really brilliant job.
