The Cozumel Chrysalis Group
« on: May 07, 2006, 08:56:00 AM »
Here is a link to another group in need of help in Cozumel.

   The Cozumel Chrysalis Group

 The Cozumel Chrysalis Group
Dedicated to helping children in need achieve their full potential!

The Cozumel Chrysalis Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial scholastic support for the island's students. Mexican public school students pay a registration fee and must provide their own uniforms, classroom supplies and some books. Many families in Cozumel lack the financial ability to send their children to school. The Cozumel Chrysalis Group assists those students who show a desire to better their lives through education, so that they can meet and maintain established academic standards.

Our organization began by assisting 16 students in 1995, and in 10 years that number has grown to over 250! Once a child has entered our program, they receive assistance throughout their school years. Additional assistance is always welcome!

 Sponsorship Program

A one-time contribution of $80 per elementary student or $200 per Jr or High School student will provide assistance for one year of education. Click here for Sponsorship Form or Email for more information.

 Ongoing Used Clothing Sales

If you have any extra space in your luggage, please bring used clothes. Clothes are sold at a nominal price to provide the local residents with inexpensive clothing while raising funds for school supplies. For questions, email Alicia or call 1-866-511-1014 toll free from the U.S. or Canada, or 872-5478 from Cozumel.

 School Supplies / Small Donations

We purchase school supplies for students. If you want to bring some along, click   here   to see our current needs.
If you don't have space, a check or cash ($10 - $20) will help us with our purchases.

 Drop Off Locations

Used clothing, school supplies and financial donations may be dropped off at one of two locations: Cozumel Putting Course, located downtown at Calle 1 Sur and 15th Avenue or at Paradise Beach.

While we like to send thank-you's to all our donors,
we don't always get a name, address or email address,
even if you leave one with your donation.
Please know that we very much appreciate all the kind people
who have supported Chrysalis over the years,
and all future donors as well.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

I hope this will also be one of our stops while in Cozumel.

My suitcases are loaded and there is lots to go around.

Perhaps we can get a couple of photos to go along with the information provided.

Thanks for posting the information on the forum.

Hi Freedomryder,
we're bringing both digital and 35mm camera, I love shooting pictures of kids, especially when they're playing around, so yes, definitely pictures.
Hopefully pictures like  these that we got in Jamaica when we brought them bags of school supplies.    :D

Hola Johnnycastaway

The photo's you took are beautiful. I love the looks on the children's faces.

I also hope to get some good photos of the Children in Cozumel and send them down with a Tourist once they are developed.

I always take photos on vacation and try to send them back with someone. I have some photos waiting to be sent to Varadero the next time someone heads that way.

The photos are always greatly appreciated because most of the people have no photos or very few photos of family members.

I am so excited and just can't wait to get to Cozumel.
