Help for a new Destination?
« on: January 30, 2007, 07:57:00 PM »
We are considering a new destination for March! Any thoughts or ideas or expertise on these destinations?
  #1- El Salvador?
  #2- La Ceiba, Honduras?
  #3- San Andres?
#4- Santa Lucia or Santiago de Cuba?

                      Thanks .......F&T

f&t, I've really been watching the Decameron in El Salvador too  :)
gets pretty good reviews and the prices have been insane! 497+
It's now sold out until Feb 15 - definitely on my watch list.
The resort in Honduras has also been one I've been watching for about a year

I was seriously watching San Andres for last November, but I'm still kind of so-so on that destination

Hi F&T

 #4 part B.

Santiago de Cuba. We went as a family to Brisas Sierra Mar and hope to return there if we can arrange scheduling.
 Any questions, fire away.

 Bigjohn.
I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

Tours - a bus trip to Santiago is offered Full day or half day.
The catamaran trip to Santiago is a full day trip. Funny- it takes as long to drive to Santiago as it takes to sail/motor on the boat. If the roads in this area were improved, re-paved, levelled and smoothed, they might rise to the standards of logging roads in Bobcaygen.
Scooters are available for hire ($). Horseback riding is offered ($) at the entrance to the resort. A snorkelling boat trip is offered ($). (Think of the movie "Open Water" Don't Go!)
A local mudbath. Karen says it was interesting. Good to go once.
We enjoyed BSM and want to return. That must say something.
The food was the best I've had in Cuba. If you order lobster in the morning, the lobster fisherman uses tools I took for him. Vice Grips, file, etc. (He needs new flippers if you have room in your bags.)
 Hope this helps,
 Bigjohn.
