In passing I thought you might like to know that Heather has found the time to post on avidmerrion's site this afternoon also.

  www.cubafriends.co.uk

I think that was a lovely gesture on her part and I thought you all might like to know.

 This is what she posted:

 Hiya everyone

Well, we got here in one piece. The Harmony flight was crap but it got us here.

The resort is great, it's only a 3 star and we got it for next to nothing. The rooms need to be updated and they are doing them slowly. The rest of the resort is fantastic. 3 large pools, 2 childrens pools, 3 20 person jacuzzi's right on the beach!! You can't walk 10 feet without running into a bar or restaurant. The food is great, lots of choice and nobody is sick.

The beach is pretty wild, big waves some days and calm the next.

Have fun, I'm going back to the beach.

 Heather

dear flopnfly [aka heather ]

 i had seen your post on the casa marina [beach?], and have a few questions. [you did not post a report}
it was suggested to us and my wife wants to go somewhere less expensive this year.
did you stay at the beach or reef?
how was the beach, i was spoiled in cayo largo so i hope that it is not too crowded]
how is it to get from the reef to the beach, do you have to climb down a long ways?
how did john like the diving? how much was it, how much was the advanced [we are both open water certified , is it worth while to upgrade? do we need photos for cards?

was there anything that you did not like about this resort,

should i book it? would you go again tomorrow?

 thanks

Hi David,

We were on the beach side, but there really is no division between the two resorts.  It's jut one big rambling resort.

We had a great time, the food was good, the two beaches were great, and the many bars were good.

However, I will not go back for one reason only.  And this is the reason I haven't posted my review yet, I'm hesitant to say but I can't honestly recommend this resort to anyone.

Don't get me wrong the resort itself was great, but there were bugs in the rooms.

I can't comment on the diving part, I'll leave that up to John.  You should post the question in the diving section and John or Gambitt will be able to help you with the advanced info.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
