New Board + Gallery Integration
« on: April 29, 2007, 11:19:36 AM »
One of the features that caught us when deciding on the new software was the fact that there is a "bridge" between this board and the version of the photogallery that we are using.  That way we should be able to have one account for everything.  unfortunately, the link between the two is still in process of being perfected, so we have to suffer through some minor growing pains with it until they've stripped all the bugs out.  So if you click on the gallery link in the menu bar, it should take you to a page that asks you to register with the gallery.   If you already have an account in the gallery, you can tell it to use the existing account.  Ideally, it should create a link between the two and off you go.  (in a perfect world that is.   :icon_biggrin:).  You may see an error come up with all sorts of information, like MODULE COLLISION  or STORAGE ERROR, not to worry, we can work through them.  If you're trying to connect to an existing account in the photo gallery, let's make sure of two things:  1) the login name on the gallery is the same as the one to this board, and 2)  that your paswords are the same.  Then give it a try.  If it still doesn't work, let me know, and I can take care of the integration manually with direct edits to the database.  You can PM me, or catch me on yahoo (Castaway_johnny) during the weekends and nights.

The 2nd option is if you don't have an account on the gallery already, then chose the option to create a new account.  it should try to create the account based on your credentials on the board, and offer seamless integration.

We appreciate your patience while trying to get this (what we feel) invaluable addition to the software working.  I've been in contact with the programmers, they know about these problems, and are about to release another "beta" of the product in a few weeks.

ahhh..the price we pay for being on the bleeding edge of technology.   :icon_biggrin:

I have a question ..might seem daft but roleyes ...in the old gallery I noticed that whoever it was that hosted the pics had the option to *sell* the pictures  ( I must admit I took umbridge to that and hence my empty section ) ,,is there an option to turn off the right click so people cannot upload the pictures without permission  ?

the links to the places to buy prints of the pictures is a nasty little feature that likes to come back to life whenever we upgrade the board, it gets reset by the upgrade and rears its ugly head.   :cussing:

I've disabled them yet again, so they won't be an issue.

as for the right click question, we tried that a while back but it met with a lot of opposition so it was removed.  Main problem was people trying to put a picture into the forum from their collection in the gallery were unable to right click the picture to get the info from it to post to the gallery.   :duh:

Not too hard to put that back if the general consensus is yes.
