Need to know the good, bad and ugly of flying with Sunwing
« on: February 14, 2008, 10:02:18 PM »
This is our first year travelling with Sunwing, we have given up on Airtransat, and Signature is good but the Squishservice...oh I mean Skyservice flights leave much to be desired.  So we have booked Sunwing and also pre-selected our seats with the most leg room, row 5.   Hoping we haven't made a mistake, so I guess we just cross our fingers and hope for the best.  So everyone please let me know all the good, bad and ugly of flying with Sunwing.
Thanks

I use them on my first trip to Cuba 3 years ago and found them to be good, nothing to complain about or boast about either  :happy3:

I guess that's not much help  :dontknow:

We flew Sunwing to Holguin last week.  We had no problems at all.  Even the meals they served were quite edible.  There was a delay of about 40 minutes at Pearson although this was due to the airport baggage handlers being behind because of the snow storm the day before.  They were loading the luggage after we boarded the plane.  On the way home we were about 1 hour late leaving Holguin but this, again, was due to snow at Pearson.  There was an Air Canada flight scheduled to arrive and leave at the same time and they were also an hour late so it wasn't Sunwing's fault.

The seats are leather and quite comfortable.  They showed a movie on the way down and back although I didn't watch either and gave out headsets on the way down to listen to music (keep them for the flight home or they'll charge you $1.00 for another set - I only had a $20.00 so the flight attentant didn't bother to charge me).

For me, on a 3 hour flight from Pearson to Holguin, all I really care about is they get me there and back safely which was accomplished.  I'm 5' 6" and have never had any issues with seat space on any plane although my husband and son (both 6') were ready to strangle the people in front of them who reclined their seats all the way.

We've flown Sunwing a few times and it was ok.  Nothing good or bad to say about the flight.  It got us where we needed to go.

I'm 5'5"  and I didn't have any problem with the seats or leg room.

The flight was fine, but we have had issues with the Sunwing reps on the resort.  They have never delivered what they promise.  Not once.

It's not a big deal to us, but if you're booking with them for the VIP service I would say forget about it.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Thanks for your replies, I wasn't sure what to expect but I figured at least the plane is going to Cuba and that's all that really matters.  I knew that our flight down wasn't non-stop, we stop in Frederiction, NB to pick up passengers on the way down and stop in Halifax first on the way back, that's no big deal.  We didn't book anything VIP, but this is our third trip to this resort so we didn't pay extra for anything special, like I said just want to get there and relax............... :ham:

Maybe Jammy can give you some more insight as he just got back from Cuba flying with Sunwing.  From his initial comments, sounds like it was good.
