NO cuba for us this year .....but ...
« on: February 19, 2008, 03:56:20 AM »
we are off to our favourite Greek Island ( Halki ) and staying here.http://www.greeklodgings.com/eng/chalki/houses/ftenagia.html

Cuba was just way to expensive this year as we would have to go in the school summer holidays (August)and after spending time last year with TS Noel we couldn't face the risk of storms again  :sad1:

Sooo we have booked a fabulous house on a quiet Island on an even quieter beach to sunbathe ,fish, swim and generally relax

Not really ..four and a half hour flight ..then 30 mins in a taxi to a small port ..then there's time for lunch and a quick  :wi: and then an hour and a quarter on a small ferry  ..so reading that back ,that sounds alot lol but because its broken up it doesn't seem too bad -our flight is at 9am and we will get to our house at about 7pm local time (2 hours added on)
But totally worth it once you are there  :sunny:

Sounds fantastic Lizzy!!!

We've always wanted to do the Greek Islands, and someday we will.

Can't wait to hear all about it, and see some wonderful photos.   :icon_thumright:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

The Greek Islands are beautifull as are the people ..infact the Cuban people remind me of the people we have met in Greece , just totally lovely, open, generous people ..we have been to this Island 4 times previously and are welcomed back like family each time we return ..its well worth the trip  :ham:

Looks lovely.  The harder to reach areas are often the nicest.  We try and have a week in Greece every year. One of my favourite places is Skopelos. Had a fab week in the Pelion last year.

Skopelos is on my wish list and your right about the harder to reach places being the best ..they are getting fewer and fewer though

Garin , Val is right we have been to a few Islands now and the people are just so lovely ..we have so  many fond memories of places we've been
