Shopping in Varadero or Havana?????

Hey everyone i was wondering where to go shopping in varadero or havana?? i have been to varadero before but only seen the open air markets, but Steve's journal there was a picture of a couple of guy's with a new flatscreen TV, of course it was being brought home in a horse and buggy... but hey they got the TV.....lolol  anyhow if anyone knows of the best places to do a little shopping any help would be sooo appreciated.... thanks everyone

I guess it all depends on what you're shopping for.

you've been to Varadero, so you know that there isn't a lot of choice for shopping.  The market has craft items, and there are a few shops in town that sell more American type items, clothes, shoes, kids toys etc.  They were all quite expensive though.

Rum, cigars etc are sometimes cheaper at the duty free at the airport, if they are available.

If you are planning on taking a side trip to Havana, do your shopping there at the markets. More variety and better prices than in Varadero.
