Virus
« on: August 05, 2008, 11:03:51 PM »
I got a virus this weekend, of course Gambitt is away, so not able to fix it for me.  Tonight I asked BIL (mystic) and he suggested a Web site - bitdefender.com, it's free.  So I downloaded it, then ran another scan and things are running well again, the virus is gone and my computer is running normal again

  Yes, That Woman... I too managed to acquire my virus when my husband was away!  But maybe it was better that way  I really appreciated being able to post the problem on this board for the sake of my sanity! :confused2:

I ended up using Malwarebytes which eliminated almost 400 infected files and 4 Trojans *scared*  I ran it several times in Safe mode as well as an online Virus scanner (ESET) and then did it all again in Normal mode.  I have been coming up clean (also downloaded Spybot) for 24 hours but  my desktop picture is gone and I will leave that to my SIL to fix!
Sure does make the blood run cold when that red screen comes up!!
