Hi Jethro,

We haven't stayed at the Blue Bay Villas, but we've been to the Playa Dorada area.  We stayed at the Gran Ventana.

Blue Bay Villas looks amazing, and it's adults only and right beside the golf course.  Great if you're into Golfing.

Playa Dorada complex is what they call a "gated community", so you don't get a lot of local vendors pestering you like they do in the Sosua and Cabarete areas.  The vendors can be quite brutal in DR compared to other islands.

In the little plaza which is within walking distance, you have bars and restaurants and some shops for souveniers, and lots of places to book excursions which are a lot cheaper than if you booked at your resort.

The prices are great right now for Blue Bay Villas, so I would grab the chance to try it out before it becomes too popular.

When are you planning on going?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

My nephew has been there twice, they seem to like it.

We were at Playa Naco a couple of years ago it is directly on Playa Dorada beach and there were vendors are on the beach, but you just tell them no thank you and they move right along. We liked the area. Nice long beaches if you like going for long strolls on the beach.
