sunwing policy contradiction?
« on: December 27, 2008, 07:21:55 PM »
looking at the sunwing site at luggage allowances,
the baggage matrix shows golf clubs and scuba equipment at no charge, up to 20kg in wieght for scuba gear, however if you scroll down the page, it then turns around and says that there is the $100 flat fee (round trip) for golf clubs, scuba gear and bicycles...

 :dontknow:

anyone heard anything different?

Just got off the Phone with Sunwing, and they are NO LONGER charging the $100.00 for Scuba Gear!  *clap* *clap* *clap*

But, that 20 kg of free baggage, Includes your "suitcase" as well, so you have to split the 20kg.

If you go over the 20 Kg limit, it's $20/kg each way.

10 Shirts, and 10 shorts/pants aren't going to weigh much more than 4 lbs, so that means 40lbs of Scuba gear. :yahoo:

So Sunwing is saying that they are no longer carrying sports gear free anymore or charging for it.  So what does that mean?

their normal weight allowance is 20kg regardless of what you bring, so I don't see anything new?  :dontknow:

I was at the travel agent and I asked her about this and she called the while I was sitting there because I wanted this info
for Eric and the person that booked my package said that they do charge, and no longer have free allowance for such things.

And Eric called and got a different story :BangHead:

I would hate to see them wanting to charge him at the Airport  :BangHead:

I think they should send Eric something in writing so he can bring it with him at the Airport  :dontknow:

I'm going to have to check some more.

Quote
The above items:
i) 1 per person at the applicable rates.
Second piece or greater, excess charges apply.
i.e., 2 bikes one pax/one at $ 30 .00 (up to 20 kg) and the other weighed w/applied excess charges
ii) 1 golf bag, 1 scuba equipment (or any combination of 2 or more items)
1 at the applicable rates, pax choice which one gets weighed for excess charge application

According to what I was told today, it was just 2 weeks ago thatthey have removed the $100 fee for scuba gear.

If you look at the note above, about "pax choice" about "which one" gets weighed for excess baggage fees, I think that maybe you do have 20 Kg. of Scuba gear seperate from your normal 20 kg.

And this is at the bottom of the "sporting gear" listing

Quote
Passengers are allowed to carry only one piece of sporting equipment per passenger. Passengers are not permitted to include personal items such as clothing or other non-related items in the sport equipment container (ie. extra clothes in a golf bag; see details below).

I'll send an email to sunwing right now, so I can print out thier responce.

I'm really interested to know about this.

We are flying Sunwing in April to Jamaica for the wedding, and I know a few people were planning on bringing their golf clubs because golf is included at the resort.  And of course we'll be bringing our dive gear.
