« on: April 27, 2009, 03:20:10 PM »
Given the recent, and sudden, closure of Conquest Vacations, the Thomas Cook Canada group of companies, wants to let travel agents know that their clients’ vacation plans are safe with them as they are backed by a strong company. According to officials, being part of the Thomas Cook Group plc provides the Canadian brands with great support, even in these harsh economic times. Thomas Cook Group plc is the world’s second largest leisure travel company, operates in 21 markets, moves over 23 million people per year, has revenues of approximately $16 billion, and an employee base of 31,000 people. Last year, the Group reported profits of over $700 million, 50% higher than the year before. In Canada, the brands, which include Sunquest, ALBATours, Holiday House, Network, Fun Sun Vacations, Intair, Encore CruiseEscapes, Boomerang Tours and Exotik Tours, among others, record revenues close to $2 billion each year. They have more than 1,100 employees and move 1.6 million passengers every year. Thomas Cook Canada is also a member of TICO and pays into the fund to protect Ontario consumers from industry failures. It is also members of similar organizations in British Columbia and Quebec. (http://www.thomascook.ca)
