Cuban Ketchup
« on: September 12, 2009, 08:55:30 PM »
Every internet travel forum you go to; one of the first comments you see is "Bring Ketchup from home, as the ketchup they have in Cuba is not the same..."  :duh:

Well, for those of us who actually have a palate :tongue3: and Prefer the Cuban concoction;  I've finally perfected the make-it-at-home "Canadian Recipe" for Cuban Ketchup, with ingredients readily available in Canadian stores :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

Start with Heinz Ketchup, and then cut it 8:1 with "Grace" Hot Scotch Bonnet Sauce..

Even though this sauce is from Montego Bay, Jamaica; when you mix it with Canadian Ketchup, the result is pure Cuban!

EDIT: ***PS.. for those enough crazy enough to work it out..... *****

Toronto to Holguin   2552 Km
Mo. Bay to Holguin    320 Km

Guess what the relative TRAVEL distance is:   7.975 :1   *scared*

Coincidence???   Maybe, Maybe Not?

But I for one am glad you brought this up Gambitt.  I  headed for our first trip to Cuba with a small bottle of ketchup in my luggage after it was recommended ++ times on the travel forums.  We never used it in Cuba as we both liked the Cuban ketchup!!( for the few occasions that we actually used the stuff!!) You should submit your recipe to one of the Copycat recipe sites.  ; )
