I know some of you are keen to take the next step on the PADI ladder. Just to let you know that PADI has just this week released the Rescue Course on the e learning format which might help out as I know time to complete courses can be a problem. Basically, this will allow you to do the theory part of the course on line, at home, in your own time. Here are more details that I have taken from PADI's Instructors website.
What does it cover?
PADI Rescue Diver Online content is broken down into an
introduction and 5 easy-to-learn sections. The course covers a
wide range of topics including:
• The Psychology of Rescue
• Recognizing Diver Stress
• Accident Management
• Assisting Responsive and Unresponsive Divers at
the Surface and Underwater
• Equipment Problems
• Oxygen Delivery Systems
• Missing Diver Procedures
• Responding to Diver Emergencies
• Inwater Rescue Breathing
The online sections mirror the material in the Rescue Diver
manual and DVD.
Who can benefit from completing the course?
The course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how
to prevent, and if necessary, manage dive emergencies. The
course broadens a diver’s awareness and improves his/her
skills and confidence. Most certified PADI Rescue Divers look
back on their rescue training as one of the most challenging -
sometimes demanding - and therefore most rewarding courses
they’ve taken. The subject is serious but the training is fun.
How does it work?
After enrolling, PADI’s eLearning® system presents your student
with interactive presentations that include videos, audio,
graphics and reading. The videos are actually integrated
into the online program which is a new feature of the online
course. Five short quizzes let your student check their understanding
of the presented information before moving on. This
lets them move through the program efficiently and at their
own pace. End-of-section exams verify their mastery of the
entire topic and are automatically scored.
What else is required to complete the course?
After completing the online portion of the PADI Rescue Diver
course, the Instructor must administer a short eLearning Quick
Review to confirm the student’s understanding of safety-related
material from the course. Then, the student will complete the
inwater training portion of the course. The instructor may
introduce the student to ten rescue exercises in confined water
and then have him/her participate in two Rescue Diver scenarios
in open water.
What does it cost?
The course fee for PADI Rescue Diver Online is $120 US,
non-refundable.
What’s the revenue share for individual
members?
$30 US per student, but you must opt in for the PADI eLearning
program.
How do I enroll my student divers in PADI
eLearning and ensure that they affiliate
with me?
First, you must opt-in to participate in PADI eLearning by visiting
the eLearning section on the PADI Pros’ Site and set up your
account. Upon signing up, you’ll be asked to read and agree to
the Terms and Conditions of the program.
Once you’re signed up, you will purchase a PADI eLearning
Gift Pass™ (click on Gift Pass to view tutorial explaining how
the Gift Pass works). This process ensures that your eLearners
affiliate with you
When will I receive payment for my eLearning
students?

your preference of a check or PayPal (Choices vary by office;
