Back from Marina Palace
« on: April 30, 2006, 08:17:00 PM »
Finally getting some time make a post. We're back from the Barcelo Marina Palace,I've just submitted a trip report as well. Varadero,Havana WOW!!!!! is all I can say.  We met Jammy last year in Holguin and it didn't quite work out meeting up with them this year they arrived in Varadero a couple of days before we left and didn't know they wer there until we got home. That will teach me for not checking my e-mails at the resort. I'm not sure how to post pictures but here's a link.  http://photoshare.shaw.ca/view.php?VEID=32844_pVnWKy1146088737wdSWuH&mesg=1

Excellent photos !!!

great review as well.  Is there still construction going on or is it all finished now?

I noticed you mentioned the mojito master, was there ever a shortage of mint?

 thanks for sharing
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

it looks wonderful, great beach.  if it's still under construction, it should be quite something when it's done.    :D

:)    captain_ron05 :  We stopped at this resort on the double decker bus and it looked beautiful.  Your pictures sure verify that.  I didn't realize it was so big!  Great pictures and great review.

cr05, great pictures.

We're interested in the Cayo Libertad.  I've read a few things about it, but don't quite understand the layout.

I've read that it's on an "island".  Is this something that is connected by a walking bridge to the BMP?

Also, DH and I will be down there at the end of the month at IV, do you think it's possible they would give us a tour of BMP and CL?

I really enjoyed your pictures and your review.  BMP's syle looks fairly unique.

 Thanks.

We attempted to look around the Cayo Libertad, we made it past the seperate lobby and over the bridge then as we got close to the pool a security guard noticed we had the wrong colored wrist bands on and were turned back. I asked if it was ok just look around, the security guard said no,I wanted to take some pictures once again NO. I did talk some people that walked the beach all the way and got to look around though. There was still some construction going on that we could see, working on the beach area and palapas being built and such. We saw some dump trucks and other constrution vehicles as well. From the little that we saw it looks like the building have 4 suites each. There are people staying there though, we heard a couple that had a pedometer with them and the walk from there room to the main buffet and back for breakfast was 1.7km, I'd be hungry again by the time I got back.We also saw that they had cart service, but heard it was scarce. If you stay at Cayo Libertad you have the run on the whole resort.

The only place that had a shortage of mint was the pool bar. Both the lobby and the theater always had it. Last year at Holguin the mojitos were not as tasty, but Elito cured that, they were GREAT.By the way he also works at the disco after the theater closes. If you like flavourful, powerful mojitos see Elito. Usually no weaker that 50/50
