We are back from Holguin
« on: October 31, 2005, 11:54:00 AM »
We are back! We had a wonderful vacation ! Got to the airport THREE hours before takeoff , so we thought all there was to do was drink   :D  found the bar by it was the smoking area perfect ! left Dave for a moment for a smoke, went back to join him then went in for another one this time no one was in there but a.... BAG    I thought about why bags should not be unattended ,I told the bartender he came in and said it should be o.k it passed the x-ray I told him I thought it belonged to the security that was sitting there before, he said it is o.k .....then I left to finish my beer , then we went for a walk, came back for another beer , the smoking area was locked and the bag was in there , then a few security came the bartender unlocked the door ,  a moment later another guard came with the German Sheppard Dog to sniff the bag , everything was fine , the guard who left the bag came, the bartender gave him shit told him he should know better, the smoking area opened up  I made a be line for it!!

We took off on time landed in Varadero to let passengers off there , we were waiting to take off to Holguin the the pilot announced we would have a delay..... BECAUSE the Cuban military had close the airspace  , OMG!!!     friends we met there that were sitting on the other side of the plane told us they saw a unmarked plane come in, the stairs and limo raced up to the plane let whoever off whisked them away ,then the pilot said we were ready for take off .

Got there Saturday night it was HOT !

Sunday & Monday were beautiful sun all day, Tues rain most of the day I have never seen so much rain ! Wed cloudy a bit of rain all day, Thurs, Fri and Sat were all about the same rain in the morning then around noon it cleared up , Sat we left the resort around 6pm started to rain again.

We were booked to go on the free train ride( it runs on the road not tracks )on Thurs morning  lot's of people were waiting to go on it , most did not book it they got on but no room for  seven of us, 50 people got on ,we complained that we were booked and most were not , so he told us he would come back and  get us at 2;30 , he did private tour for seven , beautiful country ! Gave many gifts to the beautiful kids ! Along the side of the road we saw a big pig nursing her piglets wonderful! We broke down brakes were locking then over heated ! we got off climbed a hill to see a replica Indian village and a rum and coke! Walked down the hill the driver gave some tools to a village Cuban he fixed the train thank god ! We were in the middle of nowhere .

We met some INTERESTING people .....a stripper for England, also a woman from my WORK !

The resort ,people , pool and beach were all wonderful!!!!!  but we did not care for the food much , food was much better at Breezes Jibacoa.I missed dinner only one night...hee hee , too much rum during the day I slept from 7pm till 6:45 am I was at the buffet at 7am waiting for it to open for coffee and food ! That's enough stories.....that I can say!!  :rof:
